I'll keep this short and simple. A chum of mine likes to come out and whitetail hunt with me...Unfortunately his presence is virtually mandatory at work. I'll be straight forward here, he basically shoots, tags, washes up and hops in his car to work. I mean if its like past two in the aft he dont cause he's got an hour drive, but if he can squeeze in any day at all he's gone. Now I'm going to be told he shouldnt be hunting, but the guy infact should be. He's more ethical than loads of other hunters who have time out the wazoo. So pls lets not even get down that rd. Heres the question...If and its highly unlikely, but if the CO comes in at some point after the kill with him not there where does that leave me. Weather its a minute or a day after am I ok. Now our understanding is that as long as he's the boy what shot and tagged we're good, but is there some other tidbit I should know. I really wanta do this if needs be cause he'd do the world for me, but a fella dont wanta see his truck on the hoist either:(

No problem. He doesn't even have to be the one who shot the deer (he was party hunting). I had exactly this happen two years ago. My friend showed up and hunted. Someone in our party shot a deer. He tagged it and went home. I got pulled over by the CO's with this deer in the back of my truck. I told them what happened and they called my friend to confirm that our stories matched. They let me go with no hassels.

Why not carry a short written letter from him, detailing his name, address, phone no, hunting license/tag number and advising that he hunts with you part days ... and for anyone "whom it may concern" to feel free to contact him regarding any particulars as to licensing, tagged animals, etc. Give the CO/Game Warden a copy if asked ... and have your name address etc. on it as well. No hassles and a lot of saved explanations !

A decent CO who knows what goes on in the real world. I think it would be a good idea to have all info on hand. THIS IS ONTARIO and you could run into a Lieberal CO!

Yep you he can leave no problem make sure you have his licenese number and some way to prove he was there depending on the CO he may charge you anyhow if he doesn't beleive you as the burden of proof falls on you. At home or even the next day I don't think would be much of a problem but if the kill is fresh and the person who tags the deer isn't around the CO may have a hard time beleiving you unless you could somehow prove otherwise.

should be no problem..
I got pulled over by a female CO in kenora last year, just me and my friend, with 8 deer in the back of my truck.. the rest of our crew had already left for home about an hour before. the CO wrote down the names and tag numbers on 6 of the deer, then she told us to have a nice day!
she missed 2 deer on the bottom of the pile, but I wasnt going to dig them out for her

You have to be able to supply the name and licence number of the tag holder. States so in the regs. But as long as they are hunting with you, and they put their tag on, it's all good.

All good answers, your good to go. Have you got a Digital Camera? Just snap a couple of pics of your buddy with the deer and you have some proof he was there. The party hunting thing is good too. We have a couple of guys who hunt with us only for the first couple of days, their tags get used on the first deer shot then they continue to party hunt till they have to leave or we run out of tags.
