Ontario moose tags wohoo got a cow tag 21a affter 10 years trying who else got one

How about making saving our moose the prime objective of the program rather than generation of more revenue for wynne to waste?

WMU 21A has the most generous allocation (1300 adult tags) in Ontario for the moose draw due to MNRF's strategy of restoring woodland caribou population vs. moose or deer. WMU 47 was issued one (1) adult tag issued for 3000 hunting applicants.
Where there are population declines these have a lot more to do with unlimited First Nation harvests, declining forestry activity, increased bear populations, and parasites reducing winter survival, than over-harvest of calves or adults by licensed hunters. Despite the emotional objections to idea of calf hunting the reality is that calves are not frequently seen in the fall.

Got tired of the ****show moose lottery system in Ontario a few years back, what a joke. I won't donate to Wynne Lose or Draw for it anymore, saving my pennies to hopefully do an Nfld moose hunt someday.

Gun cow moose tags were available in wmu 21a in the surplus tag pool this year.
That means there were more tags than applicants in the main draw.

Most surplus tags are from the 5% that are held for northern residents, which is more tags than qualified applicants. Nothing to do with the main draw.

after few years in 21a my group just gave up on that area; too crowded, and in 4 years straight we didn't even seen a moose in the parts we hunted
have no idea why ministry is selling so many tags in that wmu

It's all a scam by the Gov't to get hunters to keep buying licences.

I started hunting 21A as a young fellow back in 1975. I stopped hunting 21A in 2014. The Ministry over allocation of Cow tags has decimated the herd. This was a Toronto driven initiative to bring back the Woodland Caribou. In all those years of hunting in 21A I never saw a Caribou. Another failed feel good Liberal project.
