Well went out yesterday, cold but not to bad. Had 3 deer in to me in 2 different spots. Nice 6 - 8 point buck, hung up in the evergreens, tended a scrape and went out the way he went in. If I had a scoped rifle he would be hanging, 85 yards throught the trees with a 54 Hawken just did not seem right. Any one having any luck???

Andy

we got 2 yesterday then I drove back up to school for a few days then heading back to finish off the season

** woops sorry didnt see this was a muzzleloader hunt talk...I actually hunt the controlled shotgun hunt in 93A **

Well put my Hawken up for the year, had a large doe about 80 yards on the other side of a fence where I have no permission my last three trips out. Did not get to shoot at anything, still better than work. Now on the the yotes...

well at least your left with a new christmas tree ornament(your tag;) )

We have had a couple of close calls but the wolves and weather have been screwing with us. It is down to the crunch here... good thing we have Sunday hunting now! Big Tony and the boys are coming this morning and I hope to fill at least one tag before I break out the X-bow.

I tagged a nice little buck with the Thompson at 8:AM... and Lucas cranked a good doe with 2 minutes left in the season to close out the M/L hunt.
It was a beauty day and the deer were finally moving after a week of nothing.
The little six horn I shot was absolutely beat to hell, he had an eye missing and horn punctures on every part of his body. Both of his horns came off while we were dressing him. I have never seen a deer beat up so bad in 30 years of hunting.

The group that I hunted with the last 2 years......the group that drinks and scopes each other and has swept me most every day I was with them...the group that was skunked 2 years in a row...the group I no longer hunt with.....
THEY GOT 13 DEER LAST WEEK....without me.

Archery goes till months end...wish me luck.

We had a good hunt and finished in two days shooting 6 deer with 5 hunters. One new hunter a 15 year old shot a deer each day and almost got a 8pt that was later shot. Talk about a smile on his face.

Well............I got my new smokeless front-stuffer dirty, and shot a nice tree........with about one minute left in the season.

I have not been back out to the range to see WHERE the gun is shooting. It was dead-on before the hunt, but got a bit rattled around in a gun boot on an ATV. The scope was factory mounted and I never did take it off to check tightness of bases and rings etc........

So if it is still shooting dead-on at the range, the missed shot was entirely my fault............hard to say if I am hoping the gun is ON target, or NOT. One way I can say, well it wasn't my fault. The other I can say it was my fault. But let's be honest, a guy who hunts with a new gun without confirming factory settings DESERVES to miss.........

Eighteen days of bow season left, and two tags........

In WMU 8 the BP season starts in the middle of Oct.
On the first morning I was lucky enough to shoot a nice 9-point buck 20 yards away from my ground blind .... double-lunged him with a Sabot from my 50 cal. Hatfield . Beautiful meat , fat and very tasty .
Hung him for 9 days (hide on) then butchered him .

Well after a miss-fire on a doe, a plain miss on a 12 point, and an 8 point:eek: I ended up with a 6 pointer. This was all in 2 hours. The gun was on at the range, but I'm thinking somethings up, so work to do before next fall. I broke my ramrod too:runaway: loading the last shot, so a custom Hubbard is on the way.
