Hello everyone,
Always interested in learning something new, and love doing things myself and gun care/repair is one of those things I'm interested in perfecting!
I grew up around hunting, and have been shown how to basically clean a gun and take care of it - looking to improve techniques, practices and any general tips to make sure my firearms last me a lifetime and then some!
Look forward to seeing what this forum has to offer.
First question:
I'm moving in a week from Thunder Bay back home to Southern Ontario. As many of you are aware the temperatures are well below 0 now and I have 4 guns to bring with me. I'm driving straight to Whitby, then on to Kingston a couple of days later. I'm wondering: with the condensation issue of going from cold to warm, should I leave the guns in my vehicle in the cold until I reach my final destination and then take them inside and dry them etc. or is it better to bring them in as soon as I get to Whitby and dry them, there, then put them back in the vehicle on my way to Kingston and take them out and dry them all over again?
I've read that Hoppes MDL is the ideal product to use on the guns after drying them and allowing them to air dry for 24 hours. Any tips?
