Having had some experience with outfitters.... particularly birds in Ontario...
I have had beautiful experiences. In some cases, I would be proud to have the outfitter as a personal friend.
Unfortunately, in some cases, I would be pleased to never meet the outfitter involved for the rest of my life.

Is there a governing body concerning outfitters in this province?
Or perhaps an organized www group who could help others avoid the jerks....

Although not using them myself, I've had interactions with two different waterfowling outfitters. One was a really great one, the other gives all hunters a bad name.

No governing body.

I ran a guide business for quite a few years before it became "cool" on social media.

I know most of the outfits in Ontario now. Feel free to PM me if you want.

A commentary for the “ less than professional “ outfitters in Ontario.
1/ I am not an inconvenience, I am a customer.
2/ believe it or not...... I am paying money for a service. If you do not provide the service, we will have an “issue”
3/ when you are taking my money for a guiding service, you work for me.
I do not have any need to kiss your ass. Quite the contrary, you should be looking for ways to make me happy. After all... I am the boss.
While I should repect your wisdom, and practical experience, as well as your ability to provide me with opportunity, I do not need to be crap talked about my shooting or hunting abilities. Give me the opportunity. It will be mine to enjoy. Win or lose.

4/ Do not let your ego get away on you. I do not care. It is all about me.

On the other half.......
1/ If I am not an ethical sportsman, I deserved to be chastised . Call the cops if need be.
2/ I should NEVER expect you to tolerate or cooperate with breaches of the law.
3 You are a person, and as such, deserve dignity and respect. You are not my slave, or a person lesser than me. You are you.

Sorry to sound like a crazy rant, but I have experienced all ends of the scale, and all areas in between.
For all the outfitters..... you know where you land.
For all the aspiring hunters... do your homework.
To some absolute duds out there who would take your money with no conscience... please leave the hunting community.
It would be helpful to have a database or provincial governing body to allow prospective clients to review “Outfitters “ prior to choosing.
That was the motivation behind my original post.
Have at er.
