Has anybody heard anything about them changing to shotguns only south of hwy 7(Carlton Place east and west)? At least here in the east there is mountains of bush (we have 1200 acres and it would seem silly that we can't safely discharge a rifle on it)

there already are pockets that are shotgun only further south of 7 around built up areas, but the rumor is they want to do a blanket restriction.

Yes, but I'm not talking about a major populated area like Hamilton nor existing regulations. This is purposed in rural Eastern Ontario.

Who is proposing this change?

We have farm land on each side of a WMU line. West side is shotgun/muzzleloader only, east side is any firearm. This applies to deer hunting only, no restrictions on bear or small game.

There are areas south of HWY 7 that have moose season, and I can't see them being restricted to shotguns only.

I'm not talking Hamilton either...Cayuga to be exact and farm land

I stand corrected, 33km from Hamilton. I nice bicycle ride! But I am refering to an area 463km farther to the East.

It is rumoured in this area blargon, details are sketchy. Hence my probe to see if there is any credable intel on it. We border two WMU's as well. There is an area closer to Kingston that extends to the Peterbourough area that is shotgun only for deer as well but it is my impression they are proposing all the way east to the Quebec border as no rifles period. This would be bad.
