ontario spring bear hunt

IME, practice is usually not the issue... controlling your composure at the moment of truth, is. So many hunters, loose composure which leads to bad decisions at key times and a lack of focus when executing the shot... unfortunate on a 100 pound blacktail, "really" unfortunate on a 1000 pound bear.

i meant practising with a rifle on the shoulder ....

Is the southern Ontario hunt a "done deal",yet? So far,all I'm seeing is if's and maybe's,nothing "official".

As far as I know it's a 5 year pilot project in all WMU's that can foster a healthy bear hunt. And it was announced by the minister of natural resources himself that this would be happening. So I'd take that as a pretty good indicator that it should be happening but unfortunately, all the particulars have yet to be announced. So we're all gonna have to wait and see I guess.

My understanding is any WMU that had a spring hunt before has one now. They are still working on rules... Haven't seen the regs for 2016 though.

Ahhhh... makes sense. Yes, for sure, I will practice with the rifle slung... but when I actually take the shot, I hope to have the rifle unsung next to me... but that may not be an option, so practicing with the rifle slung is good advice.

Maybe someday I'll use my crossbow but I just love my rifles to much

I may take my muzzleloader this year though

When the final rules are released if someone could plz post them in this thread that would be great thanks

Is there any practicality to heading up to crown land from souther ontario on a weekend to give it a try? I was thinking head up Friday, bait and try and hunt from a tree stand Saturday and Sunday? Or am I wasting my time?

When do we find out the 2016 spring bear wmu's? All I am seeing is the 2015 regs? e.t.a.Where is that map ROC pasted from?

I used my 7x57 last fall. I will use my 404 jeff this year just for fun. I have bears out the wazoo, no bait required
