Ontario Spring Bear Hunt

There,s been 14 shot and killed in and around our small town in less than two weeks,They're comming right up to houses in broad daylight. In my experience thats not usual bear behaviour.I was on my way home from Timmins yesterday when I seen a car pulled over in the opposite lane on the !44 when we got closer I see him at the rear of the car with a young kid beside him taking a picture of a bear in the ditch twenty feet away! And they wonder how people get mauled.

 Darwin Award Candidate....

I just heard that Timmins has authorised a cull on the bear
population this means trapping and killing them in the traps. My own township I heard has just slaughtered ten
bears including a 600lb+ trophy bear and nine young bear
including a sow and her cubs. This slaughter was done in our land fill site and the animals were bulldosed over. Those idiots will never admit
they were wrong in banning a spring bear hunt much less
admit they have caused the problem some townships are
having

hey i resemble that remark :p as far as i care.....we should all ban togeather and not buy a tag.......lets let the bastards start paying us to clean up the bull s**t they caused us  why should i or you have to pay 35.00$??? for a bear tag?

$35 for a bear tag sheesh,I think they go for $5 in B.C. our moose tags are only $25 $15 for a deer. They're really trying to kill hunting in Ontario aren't they?

We have a hunt camp 2 hours north east of Parry Sound. I was up a few weeks ago fishing and saw 11 bears in 4 days. On the way out I stopped for gas and asked the attendent what he thought of all the bears. His answer was "damn things the kids can't even play in the backyard anymore. We should pile them all on buses and ship them to Toronto and let those a**holes deal with them".

The closure of the spring hunt was political, and nothing whatsoever to do with management issues. It was not MNR's idea.
Reinstatement of the spring hunt will be for political reasons, if it ever happens.

With the bear mauling in Ontario recently, do you Ontarians think that they will bring back your spring bear hunt? I've seen a few interviews on the news with some people calling for it to be re-instated. Is there the political will to bring it back?
Frankly, it would take a bear in McGuinty's kitchen to get him to even consider a spring bear hunt.

Huh? This the first I hear of this. Dont' get me wrong Im all for it. We have been overun by bears most of the summer. The local Mnr keeps telling us its our fault because we dont' lock up our garbage in our garages, dont' clean our barbecues and dont' pick the fruit from our trees (few and far in between up here.)

I know that they put up signs on the highway coming into town from every direction saying " Dont' feed the bears" "Bears can be dangerous".....

Its getting a little rediculous.
