Ontario Transfer Wait Times?

That's rediculous! I'm in Alberta and just made a restricted purchase through a business. Less than 24 hours for the transfer to go through, I asked and they emailed me the paperwork. Brought the rifle home the day after I bought it.

That's ridiculous! I'm in Alberta and just made a restricted purchase through a business. Less than 24 hours for the transfer to go through,

Then you will love this timeline even more. This is for one of my April 24 purchases from an auction in Alberta that needs to be transfered then mailed to me in Ontario.

Date of Purchase - April 24

Ontario initiates transfer - April 27 - 3 days

Ontario Approves Transfer - May 10 - 13 days

Ontario (no email notice provided) Transfer notification hits the post (post mark date) - May 16 - 6 days

So it takes 4 working days out of 6 (2 were weekend) for the notification to make it into an eveloper and get
picked up by the post office to get post marked........that is almost a week to be mailed out.

Transfer notice received by buyer - May 18 - 2 days

So that is the first one........

The fate of the other April 24 purchase in Alberta and my Ontario retailer purchase from May 12th are mysteries that continue to fascinate.

Currently at 26 days at counting for one and 8 for the other. :) ;)

At least I can pick up the one from the Ontario retailer but the two from Alberta still have to be mailed to me and arrive of course after the second
one gets approved and notice is issued. I estimate about a 7 to 10 days for that.

I might as well be buying these things from the moon.

Anyone happen to have the phone number for the Ontario CFO? Can't seem to find it online, maybe I've taken too much blows to the head but still..
Would like to call and see where mine is at, who knows maybe they can look and sort of push the 3 of them forward. Lol

To Alberta from Quebec. Called in Friday, approved Tues.

Sorry... couldn't resist rubbing it in a little:p

I have never had to wait more than 3-4 days tops ( I have even had the call to come and get my gun on the answering machine when I've gotten home from buying it). I've owned handguns continuously for over 40 years and also have collector status. This may have something to do with it. I do a lot of transfers. The one woman at the cfo always recognizes my voice when she takes my call. I do know that the number of transfers is at an all time high, there are a lot of people taking up the sport and the Ont. gov't won't hire any more people

Just got an update from the Auction as they were following up outstanding transfers from April 24th.

Now at 1 month and counting from Alberta to Ontario.

Two purchases at the same time.

One approved May 10th but notice only sent May 16th. So that is 16 to 22 days technically.

Second still not done 1 month later. So the first is still in Alberta waiting for the second to clear so they can mail.

CFO advised the Auction that the second item was still pending and will take a few days.

I have received 3 of my 5 registrations in the mail today. I have 4 of my 5 pistols in my possession. All the pistols I purchased on April 24...the registrations showed up today. Just waiting on my S&W 500 now.

Just got an email today from the guy I got one of my pistols off of, (May 6) that he got the notice the transfer is done and it is in the mail. Now to see if the other two follow or if it's more waiting game. So just over 2 business weeks of wait for my first one, so in theory the second should be done tomorrow, and the next one in another week.

UPDATE: just got my other Pistol Transfer email notification so that's about on par for what I've experienced and what I expected, so probably another week for my lower.
