Ontario Transfer Wait Times?

I bought another pistol from Switzer's auctions on Saturday. They notified me this morning that the transfer had already been completed and was shipped to me yesterday! I asked what their secret was for such fast transfers and was told that the CFO has staff processing on Saturday for them! Not sure why we have to wait up to 3 weeks any other time?

Didn't read entire thread. I can honestly say I avoid EE sellers from Ontario. Too long to get my gun. Same on the selling end have to wait too long.

The citizens of Ontario can change their elected reps, and or complain or be afraid of their shadow.

Paul Switzer makes arrangements to have this done at his auction as a courtesy to his buyers. IT IS AWESOME!!

But it gets better.

I went home this weekend with my purchase the same day from the auction.

If you go in person than you can go home with it the same day. Often the transfer is done in 3-4 hours so as the prohibs and restricteds go first and are
usually done by 10am or so that means pick up can start anywhere from 1pm on.

Its a real bonus if you can go as well as only a 10% buyers premium.

Not sure if the auction has to pay or if this just gets piggybacked on regular Transfer process overtime that usually gets scheduled for Saturdays for those that want to work however.

Well.......it was 4 weeks for me. During the wait for the transfer, the sellers house burnt down. No lie...... he is a friend. During this electronic age hard to believe the cfo can't approve the transfer on the spot.......

Took 3 1/2 weeks for me in the end... I suppose there is little incentive for the CFO to step into the computer age, they are literally 20 years behind the times, nor is there any incentive to hire more ppl to process transfers. I guess if one person goes on vacation, coupled with a "hot buying incident" (Smith and Wesson sport?) then these backups occur.

.

That makes sense and is a great benefit to their customers. I have only purchased prohibited from them, but, will certainly look at other classes in future auctions. Unfortunately I live a bit too far to go in person especially if I'm not sure my bids will win. You must be one of the floor bidders that kept out bidding me! Lol

The longest wait I have ever had in Ontario has been 12 days. It's not the end of the world, but,can be annoying for sure. I just figure it's the CFO's way of implementing a waiting period where the law doesn't require one.

Its only worth going if there is something you want and you have watched the bidding on it by bookmarking it on icollectior. If you see the price is in line with the value and how
much you want it (give or take) AND the difference between shipping cost + 5% bidder premium and gas for the trip is in your favour than it can be worth while.

If you are losing out to the floor it is due to the way the system is designed. The floor always has an advantage over online no matter how fast you are and it has nothing
to do with the auctioneer showing favourtism or bias. It is all computer delay that causes the disadvantage.

There is a delay for online bidders IMO so that being there in person does give you an advantage. You can immediately increase the bid in real time whether the bid that topped your
came online or from the floor.

Online bidders have the delay to have Switzers update the icollectior then to have icollector update your computer then for you to make a decision
and then to have your computer send it to icollector and icollector to Switzer.

So

Auctioneer increased bid goes to icollector to your computer to your brain to your computer to icollector to Switzer their system updates and the auctioneer is notified.

On the floor it is:

Auctioneer increased bid goes to your brain then your bid goes to the auctioneer.

Your way off base. Buying a gun from an Ontario owner has nothing to do with the length of time for you to receive it. It's YOUR provincial CFO that processes the transfer and sends the approval notification to your seller in Ontario. This the main reason I like selling to buyers not living in Ontario.

Lol I know I'll never be dealing with you for anything now

Make sure if you buy from a dealer they start the transfer right away. CFO wait times are long enough without dealers waiting days to start a transfer.

Bought another Pistol on the Holiday Monday. I just asked for the transfer ref number and the reply was " we'll provide it when we start the transfer" ?

Eh? So you didn't do it Tuesday and as of almost 2pm today it hasn't been done. Damn quick to charge my CC though.

You are still doing ok than my friend.

Buddy had a retailer wait (forget) for 19 days recently to either run their card or start the transfer.
