Ontario Turkey Hunter Education Course

I want to do the Turkey Hunter Course from OFAH but on their website - the closest one is like an hour and a half away in Toronto. Is there anywheres in the Barrie area that the course can be done or are the only courses that are offered is the ones on the site??
 
From what I have found OFAH seems to be the only place offering the course, which really sucks because I dont wanna travel all the way to london ontario just to do the course
 
That is what I have heard, that it is about 2 hours worth of material that was some how stretched into 8 hours, oh well guess I will have to suffer through it if I wanna hunt turkey, just wish they ran more courses
 
I have took the turkey course and there were some interesting things to learn. That being said they were things that anyone interested in hunting any animal should know about them. I think its crazy that you need to take the course to hunt a bird. I can go to the mountans and hunt a grizzly bear with a bow with no course but not some bird with a shotgun. Just a nother revinew source for the OFAH. Just like 49er1 said they could teach the course material in 2h or less.
 
There are lots more offered before spring season.

Yeah, it's a simple course but there is some really good information.

And even after the course there are some turkey hunters that still do some really idiotic things.
 
It's certainly time that turkey hunting info was wrapped into the Ontario basic hunting education course. I hate it when governments give private organizations authority to set up little kingdoms like this. The whole boat operators training and authorization, backed up by fines, is an example of this at the federal level.

I had to get that stupid boat exam to! You think that OFAH would offer it online or something maybe.

I know, its bull. Its stupid that one organization should have control over all the courses. There is no legal way to hunt turkey this fall now. The only way is to run em over!
 
Why did you folks wait till now to do the courses ? They've been going on for 6 months prior. Seems kind of silly to ##### about not being able to get into a course or the way one company holds title to this course when they started up the end of Feb. this year.

That is unless you just passed you hunters ed course in the last month or two. Then I can understand a bit.

Fall turkey are harder than spring turkeys anyways. And spring turkeys can be a fair challenge.
Just do waterfowl for now, then do your turkey course at the sportsman show, TADA, you won't even need to leave toronto
 
First of all, I did just finish my hunter safety course like 4 days ago. I just got my PAL like 2 weeks ago. And also the fall turkeys cant be that hard to hunt, every morning I wake up theres at least a dozen sitting on my front porch and in my back yard....
 
One thing you will probably learn quicklyabout hunting is that it seems that most of the creatures that you will be hunting have access to the same hunting regs you do! So just before and right after the season you see them everywhere, then opening day, they become sparse.
 
LOL NewLowell Turkeys are Not all that easy to hunt. Wait til you try to call them in :p I'm sure most of them have had there day in the same woods as I hunt.

Its funny , I got 20 years in Turkey hunting and noticed that the area turkeys are way down to what they once were. Look after what you see because they can disapear fast. Take up Coyote hunting too because they do a lot of damage to the turkeys...
