Does anyone know of a decent preserve to hunt wild boar razorback or russian boars? I'm looking for a place that they r halfass afraid if humans meaning there not going to try to cuddle for a treat. If so where? How much? Any other limitations? What size of pigs are availible?

I would'nt mind knowing either. My chum who is not very well in health like hunts that are speedy, action type stuff ,so I do'nt want to sit him on a deer watch for what could be 3 hrs or 3 days and I'd like to take him on something like a hog blast

There are no hunt farms in Ont (except birds)...they were banned (7?) years ago.

I believe there are some in Que. though. :)

Hay Island in Georgian bay has wild boar. It is privately owned, is not classed in any WMU, but I have no idea how one would get involved in a hunt there.

I read aboutone 70 miles north west of toronto but they wanted 1250 us dollars for a 250 razorback plus cuttin wrappin gratuities and a bunch of other fees. Maybe I'm just cheap

I guess I mite just have to go down south n hunt them. Thanks for the replies

There was one taken just north of Port Perry a few years ago, much to the surprise of a local hunter. I've never heard of or seen such an animal, and did not believe it at first, but I seen it.
The sausage was great !!!

I asked a Quebecer (and a CGN sponsor company) about wild boar. He had gone on two hunts, both near Montreal. One place was near Granby and the other near Montebello. Not fair chase in his opinoin, but another way to put game-type meat on the table.

Any wild boar in Ontario have to be very strictly managed. There was a farmer whose fences were damaged and the pigs escaped. He did everything right by chasing them back, telling the fish cops what had happened, and killing a couple that wouldn't cooperate. He was still charged with some paperwork offence, although I never heard the result.

Ha ha. I Had almost forgotten about this:

When I was a teen, my buddy's neighbor who raised russian boars (under the table) had a 200 lb one escape and was terrified that the authorities would find it and charge them. He called us and begged us to track and kill it. We obliged, but with absolutly no clue how to go about hunting a boar. Plenty of hiking, seeing tracks, but no sightings... a week later we heard that another farmers kid had creamed the sleeping boar with several mags from a 10-22, then rolled it into an irigation pond to rot. We were so pist! I was craving bacon! What a waste.

You anywhere near guelph? My cousins husband lost a few hogs about 10 years ago. I almost went out for a hunt to knock them off before MNR found out....

HAY ISLAND is privately owned. The only way to hunt it is if you know the owners. Lots of Big pigs and tons of deer. Mostly hunting from custom jeeps but you can spot and stalk if so inclined. My cousin hunts it with the owners son. He likes it but it doesnt seem to be my style of hunting. The meat is excellent though.

I just asked about this inparticular in my hunters education course this past weekend , and the two individuals stated there is NO wildboar hunting in Ont. The concern about them getting out is top priority with MNR and apparently any sightings are strictly dealt with quickly .

I would recommend talking to MNR directly.

I have a friend who went to this place.
I think its called (Ranch d'Amerique or Sanglier d'Europe) try a google search.

We're going in a month to dunnaltimira in Quebec. Spoke to the owner on several occasions and it seems to be well run. All ground hunting, and stalking of the animals. I'll let you know after November 14th...
