oops..cleaned some brass by mistake.

Ive used it clean things in the past,it works great on certain applications, and tried the nail in the bottle test, all it did was give a nice clean nail......

Coke has been a well know cleaner for some time imagine what it does to your innards over time

It does nothing , to your innards over time. Your stomach is already a festering pool of acid, and is well prepared to handle a little bit more.

You seriously beleive that the amount of acid in soda pop will cause problems? Steer clear of lemonade, Vinegars, and about half the fruits out there, then. What we perceive as "Sour" is mostly acids of one form or another.

The sugar, over the long term, is far more like to cause you problems.

There's no way this isn't going to be taken personally but all I got out of this is you're kind of a slob. Smoking at the reloading bench, leaving the coke overnight? download.jpeg

used coke to free up an old twin motorcycle engine once. rings were rusted to cylinder walls. dumped in half a can of coke to each one , came back in a couple hours engine turned over freely.

Anyone try peeing in a bucket after drinking coke to clean brass. Cant get any cheaper than that and no waste of perfectly good coke .

I was de priming some 9mm brass at my work table...having a smoke & a glass of Coke.

I bumped the table and some uncleaned dirty range brass fell down into my tall glass of coke.
Well crap ! didnt bother dumping it,..just went on working.
The next day I started cleaning up the table. I dumped out the day old coke and wow,....I noticed the brass cases that fell into it were nice & clean !! well, then.......I think I'll go pick up a couple cheap NO Name litres of Coke & dump a bunch of brass in and try it on a bigger scale.
It certainly works better than all the other cleaners I tried. coke for cleaning brass......and I'm drinking this stuff ??? LOL

Not the worst thing to happen! You could have been me when I was 18...I used Coca-Cola and Windex to clean rust of the bolt of my M1...

You are right about excess sugar

I was thinking of trying it in my ultrasonic cleaner too, but I don't drink the stuff, and I have a bit pail of citric acid that I got for free. Maybe when that runs out...

coke has as many uses as wd40. i tried the old rusty nail trick a few years ago ( drop a rusty nail into a bottle of coke ) after a few days there was only a sliver of metal left. seems like a good trick to clean brass. may do that in the future!
