I know about the Gevarm (which seems to be a recurring theme around here)...

Anything else out there? I feel an itch that needs scratching. Because, you know, "Open Bolt" rifles are so evil and all... But there has to be a few other's besides the Gevarm floating around.

Just a nice, simple way to design a semi-auto.

I'm also interested in open bolt firearms because in north America they're quite unique. It's purely a technical fascination.

The US and Canadian authorities seem to have it in their minds that they are "full autos in waiting". The BATFE has declared that open bolt semi auto firearms made after 1982 are "Title 2 Machine Guns" and that's why they are hard to get in Canada. Note also that the BD-38's all went prohib.

So naturally I want an open bolt semi.

very magazine sensitive, originals are hand fitted to work right. out by a thou and you have ejection problems. without a good magazine you have a paddle.

The gevarm factory closed down because of European legislation governing firearms. They were not the
only sporting firearms company to do so. America is the biggest market and they were closed out of it.
A company in Quebec and I were the last importers of their rifles and accessories to Canada. I still have
some Gevarm product from the factory.

Call me paranoid but when people ask about listing open bolt guns, in this political climate I always assume they are making their own list of guns to take away from shooters. By nature they are easy to convert, Doesn't mean they will run well since most guns not designed as a full auto are not reliable in full auto. We are in a country where the Top Br#######s at the RCMP treat us like criminals in waiting, and inorder to protect us from ourselves they decide taking away the temptation will prevent us from doing it.

You can take your tinfoil hat off. The gub'mint (in the form of the Miramachi white shirts) undoubtedly already has a fairly comprehensive list of open bolt .22s, as well as all kinds of other guns they're going to bend the ear of the Dippers (if they get elected) to get the OIC prohib treatment. If it comes to that, we're all screwed no matter what.

I also have Gevarm's & yes they are identical actions .
Mag's are not interchangeable , even Gevarm mag's don't always fit other Gevarms .

Good to know.

I'm just kind of poking around right now, trying to get a feel for what's out there. It's a part of firearm design I want to add to the curio cabinet and prolly won't get shot much.

Actually watched someone shoot one FA. Bet that sucker went 1200 rds. a minute plus. ;) Unlike closed bolt guns, semi is basically interrupted full auto, no disconnector and she rips.

Grizz

Heh, from some quick searching, the claim is that the Larga is a clone of the Gevarm... Seeing as you have the Larga, what's your take on that? Do you know if the Gevarm mags are interchangeable?

The mags on the rifles I had were not at all interchangeable between the 2.

Getting them to run properly in their own rifle was hard enough.

This is a very old thread, but just thought I would get it going again.

Is there a model of Voere 22 rifle that has a similar configuration as the Gevarm?

Yes, I believe it to be the Voere 2005.

They're not particularly common. I've only ever noticed one or two on the EE. Have never actually seen one.

Voere made several closed bolt models as well, and none of the mags are the same IIRC.

Someone posted on CGN a couple of years ago that the Voere was a higher quality rifle than Gevarm or Rubi.
