I have a cabin in some prime elk hunting area. Originally Dad wad gonna go, but he's in Spence Bay (Tayloyoak) now enjoying himself, and then back to Newfoundland. He won't be here til mid October. Have room for one.
It is a general tag elk area, if anyone is interested..

Tayloyaok is in the NWT 1200km northeast of yellowknife...

well, I'm a meat hunter, so it could be a good opportunity for someone else, as I would not mind passing on a big bull. It is prime land, and elk have been shot from the cabin step. It will be a hunting trip though, by my standard:)
Which means, if you want to take a 500 yrd shot, you better be practiced, and I'll be using a 30/30 so you better be quiet NO AQUA VELVA!!

As long as you're safe and not an idiot, (which I believe 98% of us are in that group) enjoy a beer, and a yarn.. well ..that's what it's all about.

If you're a first timer, you buy the beer!:D

hmmm... I don't the requirement for a non resident.. would they need to be guided?

If it were alberta we'd good to go..I'm not sure here...

anyone know?
I am 99% sure one needs a licenced guide, even for non-resident Canadians in Saskabush......

IIRC in the west, maybe only Manitoba, for the general whitetail season, is generous enough to allow non-resident Canadians to hunt without a guide, last I heard.

hmmm... I don't the requirement for a non resident.. would they need to be guided?

Unless the rules have changed recently, there is no fair chase elk hunting for non residents in Saskatchewan except perhaps on Indian reservations. There is however plenty of high fence elk hunting for non residents in Saskatchewan.

it's funny...

my friend has an elk farm and said i can go get an elk for real cheap and shoot it too...

I would be all over it, but I won't have the room for a fall animal then...

I'm planning on 4 deer tags, one elk tag, one moose tag, one bear tag..
and one big pig :D

can't wait

The purchased (i.e. not the Big Game Draw) elk license is for Saskatchewan residents only (RCMP & military pers. while posted in Saskatchewan are eligible as residents even if they maintain a domicile elsewhere.) For everyone else, you have to use a guide/outfitter.

Canadian residents from outside this province can purchase licenses for whitetail deer hunting without using guide/outfitter services. Season dates vary with zones and depend on whether you use bow, muzzleloader, or modern centrefire cartridge rifle. Details can be found online in the 2009 Hunters' and Trappers' Guide at www.environment.gov.sk.ca

We made plans to go for yotes on Saturday morning..
It was in the middle of a cold snap, wind chill -48C

around 9 a.m. we are waste deep in snow, ..fingers and toes are getting ready to fall off,..but we keep on goinf to get down in the valley to get the yotes...

We get down there, and I'm not sure if we'll ever get out..

SV... puts out his foxpro and we're thinking, well we're here,... finally lets have some fun..

Batteries are dead within 5 minutes...!!!
Doesn't take long in that kinda cold,.. we did see a couple though

We hike back up to the truck and I go to put the kettle on..

My lighter won't burn the butane !!...fortunately matches light the propane stove,..which burned about as hot as an icecube...and barely lit itself..

Before breaking out the Dragonfly we said #### it !! and left.

No real story,... just an awful memory of the cold...:)
