Open Top or Closed Top Chassis?

Looking at some of the Cadex chassis systems. Some are open top and some are full rail.

Would the accuracy, theoretically, be better with the optic mounted directly to the action? Or is it really even a consideration?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that part of the rail rail section was separate from the chassis so that it could be attached directly to the action. I thought it was only shown in place in the pictures to illustrate what is being sold.

I have both a dual strike and a field strike and Ed82 is correct. The rail IS mounted to the action on the closed top models or you run your own rail or rings on an open top. Cadex builds a fantastic chassis and you won't be disappointed

Both serve different purposes so it's not something you can pick as one or the other but I am not disappointed with either if that helps.

I'd rather mount my rail directly to the action, that is why I chose the open top Field chassis. My scope is lower to the barrel than the chassis mounted rail. I've seen the very same chassis with the chassis mounted rail. Now, this fellow did choose the wrong rings, but his scope was a full inch off the barrel. Mine is a third of an inch. He needs a huge cheek piece to get a decent field of view with his scope. And I'm a firm believer that the closer you can get that scope to the barrel, the better. YMMV.
