opencarry at home

ya! why would you *cough cough* load the mags with *cough cough* live rounds!?

Your smart-a$$ antagonistic remark is duly noted...

So please, enlighten us. Why does one load mags full of live rounds, & strap them & the gun to their waist whilst in their home..?

Aside from being retarded, paranoid, or living in Jane & Finch...

* keeping a loaded mag "in the safe" for whatever reason, totally different.

keep the blinds closed tho....

i close mine everytime i go to clean them after the range trip, just cause i rather NOT have cops knocking on my door asking about firearms..

That is up to the club.
I live in a rural municipality where there are no by-laws prohibiting discharge... so...

I am assuming we are talking handguns... mostly because there are holsters, 9mm and 45 cal rounds being discussed therefore, it doesn't matter what your rural municipality by-laws are (right now at least) you still can not legally fire or load a restricted firearm anywhere except for at a range.

You can buy TULLE curtains, they allow tons of light in from outside, for YOU inside house to see what's up outside and at the same time, others cannot see what's going on inside house as long as it's not night time and you have lights on inside. They also sell 'mirror effect' window glass film one can apply to windows of choice to prevent others to look in during daytime.

Tulle curtains (or mentioned above film) combined with heavier drapes works for every ocassion.

Haha thanks guys, I was only asking out of pure curiosity. Regardless I still live with fam + younger brothers so its not a reality yet, its not safe or logical to even holster it at home :p
Appreciate the responses

Some people like to practice drawing from the holster and dry firing at home. There is nothing unsafe about holstering an unloaded hand gun at home. Some trainers say up to 90% of handgun training can be done at home if you wish.

Okay, if someone is packing heat at home it is because they are ready to use it for home defense. This is completely legal so long as the loaded magazine is not inserted into the gun. Should there arise a situation that threatens your life (or the life of another) then at this point you would be legally justified to load your firearm.

Also, you can also carry concealed at home.

Consider the belly band:

Because the belly band (and shirt) are made for left or right handed people. You can put your pistol in one side, and your loaded mag in the other.

Is this above bold part true?

I was under the impression that under no circumstances is it legal for you to load your firearm in your home - even to protect yourself or your love ones.

ok, here's what the law says about loaded firearms:
15. An individual may load a firearm or handle a loaded firearm only in a place where the firearm may be discharged in accordance with all applicable Acts of Parliament and of the legislature of a province, regulations made under such Acts, and municipal by-laws.

Although you would likely need a lawyer and have to go to court, the need to defend your life from grievous bodily harm or death from an armed intruder trumps most other laws pertaining to that immediate act.

Jesus John, I thought this thread was dead. I don't know why one would do that, John. I guess they just might feel like it? Just a guess.

Don't be offended, I wasn't attacking you in any way. cp:

Having a gun in a safe is a good idea, but what if you are watching the evening news in the family room and your pistol is upstairs in your bedroom and some guy is picking the lock on the front door that is 10 feet away from you? Carrying at home is better when it is concealed. That way you won't be worried about answering the door when your neighbor knocks. "California carry" in the home doesn't annoy me as much as not being able to walk around my yard or BBQ on my deck without needing an ATT. The boundaries of your home should include your property as far as I'm concerned.
