My buddy and I were firing his 7.62 x 54R on the weekend along with others. And he bought some FMJ ammo at gun show on Saturday C/W feed clip. I fired two shots no problem third went to eject and bolt will only come up part way. Cannot eject shell. I am figuring shell expanded and jammed. Can I just slide a rod down barrel and gently tap shell from the barrel side while trying to open bolt with out causing any damage? Any help would be appreciated.

How hard are you pulling on the bolt handle? What type of ammo are you shooting?

Pete

i do not know the name of the ammo. Not labeled it is FMJ ammo probably surplus looking at the plain box it came in. My buddy bought it just for the ammo loading clips.Box is not square but tapered to follow line of ammo 15 shells per box 3 per stripper.

Not pulling to hard as we donot know if we will break anything ( extractor)

The reason I suggested trying tapping on a rod at the same time as pressure is put on the bolt handle is that I have used this method with stuck cases when the bolt cannot be readily opened. It can work, and reduces stress on the extractor.

tiriaq Worked like a charm tapping out the casing. tried putting in some store bought hunting ammo, in and out no problem. The surplus ammo seems to be the issue. Thanks to all who responded to post.

is it the greenish steel cases, and FMJ with silver tips

I find that those lackered steel cases are a bugger, very stickey.

now the brass washed steel cases, black tip bullets are much nicer. :)
