Opening Day Buck. 3rd Day/3rd Buck update

tac, is there lots of rut sign up there? I have property on stoney lake, just curious I am heading up this friday for the rifle hunt next week.
I'm seeing lots of scrapes in 74A in the Lakefield/Bridgenorth area but have yet to see one here in 60. I probably found 25-30 scrapes last night in 74A. I haven't even seen a doe in 60 though so far and only one of the 3 bucks we shot had a real swollen neck. Another guy who hunts the same property missed a big buck tonight that was chasing a couple does so I think the rut is going but this warm weather might have screwed things up a bit.....

Tomorrow's goal is to get a friend of mine in front of a deer. She's only hunted one day (yesterday) and had a deer in her crosshairs but couldn't see antlers. I'm gonna take her into 74A tomorrow and see if she can fill my doe tag. Between my dad and I we still have 4 doe tags for 74A (2 are muzzleloader/archery only additional tags) :D

Cool, not much sign here either. Lots of movement from the does, and my buddies are filling thier tags. Better then last year for sure.

Thanks for the info dude, I appreciate it. We are heading up tommorow after work, hopefully the weather stays cool.

So last night I took my ex's dad out and put him in one of my best stands. He had the only doe tag for our area and can only hunt a couple days this year. He saw one but never got a shot. I had my dad set up where we shot the 8 point on Monday and he didn't see anything but heard a few jumping the fence behind him. I saw one run by about 175 yards out when I got into place. I was hunting a pine bush farther into than I've gone or scouted this season. Just after the sun set, I caught some movement to my left and spotted a buck sneaking fairly fast along the edge of the trees. He was between 125 and 150 yards our with lots of brush between us. I stood and took a lean on a tree, blowing on my grunt tube to stop him but he wouldn't even slow down. I waited for a decent opening and fired one round, hitting him high in the ribcage and dropping him in his tracks. We tagged it with my ex's dad's tag and I told him he can have the whole deer as long as he shares it with her. The picture is a little rough as it was dark by the time I got him out of the bush.
