Opening gas ports on autoloader shotgun

An old guy who has since passed made changeable ports for my Beretta A303 so it could handle any load without tearing itself appart. One is for light loads 1 - 11/8 oz, the second is for 1 1/4 - 1 3/8 loads and the last for 3 inch loads. During the off season I use the first one and during hunting season the second. I don't shoot 3" loads so I've never used the third. Be aware opening the ports in any other way will cause your gun to wear heavily when heavier loads are used.

Did it myself on a Remington 1100 magnum. Drilled a slightly smaller hole next to the original hole. The only difference between the magnum barrels and 2 3/4” ones were one hole vs two. Of course I marked the barrel after all my gunsmithing/bubba job… My magnum shotgun could now cycle target loads (only just), and would still run magnum rounds only slightly more aggressively.
I can only assume this answered all of your questions to completion given all the information you provided in your original post…

Did a few Rem 1100 mag barrels so they would shoot target loads by drilling a second hole. Then tapped it for a #2-56 set screw.
Inletted the inside of the forearm for the Allen key and spare screws.
