since purchasing once fired 45acp I am getting 1 in 20 small primer pockets, got about 100 or so and my thoughts are drilling them out to the large size, anyone doing this and is there a tool or just get the right size drill on a drill press

No drill. No tool. Isn't worth the time and effort either. Pitch 'em(after making some drawer pulls) or like stevesummit says do a batch with SPP's.
Max LP primer diameter is 0.2120". Max LP primer pocket diameter is 0.2100". Both of which depend on the brand of both primer and brass. No drill comes close and you couldn't use a pointed drill anyway.

save them for now, later in life when you start loading 9mm and 357 mag and the like you'll want to swap over to small primers on the 45 so that you don't have to change the primer feeder and seater plug when you do a caliber conversion on your press.

Why would you leave them ??? they work don't they . I know they do . there is nothing wrong with them . if your worried about trying to jam large pistol primers in them and hearing a bang then get a magic marker in a bright colour and colour the bottom with a bright colour and Bobs your uncle .

one day you might not have any large primers and you will kick yourself in the butt for getting rid of them . just be careful .

all this is is my opinion .

I save mine and load them as a separate batch. There's just too much of it around to ignore and still sleep at nights.... :d

I have had issues with some primers distorting enough or variations in primer edges that makes it hard to see if some are small or large. I'm thinking that the next batch I do will have three bins for sorting. One for large, one for small and one for "?". The "?" batch will then be decapped to allow easier identification.

It's a bit of a PITA to do these extra sorting steps but with so much SPP brass out there I've got about 500 to 600 of the things. And that's just too much to ignore.
