Opinion needed! Benelli Lupo B.E.S.T. Bolt-Action Rifle or Tikka T3x CTR Rifle, 6.5 creedmoor

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to buy a new bolt-action rifle and I'm torn between the Benelli Lupo B.E.S.T. Opti Fade Camo and the Tikka T3x CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor.

I’d love to hear your experiences and opinions on these rifles. Which one do you think would be the better choice for hunting and target shooting?

Compare the weight/balance and barrel profile on both. Handle both in a store, get a feel for ergonomics. Could you haul them comfortably on your typical hunting trip? A hunch tells me Lupo would be better for hunting while Tikka better for target shooting. But you can absolutely hunt with Tikka. Tikka is a great platform.

I have owned more than 1 of each, so I do have some first hand knowledge. The Tikka has more aftermarket parts available for it, but you could argue the Benelli needs less as it comes with a chassis from factory. Benelli has the better warranty at 10/25 years, but both are Beretta products and have good support from Stoeger. If your going to be carrying ie hunting, the Benelli is a little lighter and has a flush fitting magazine. CTR magazines cost $200 new, but are second to none for quality. CTR mags hold 10, Lupo 5. There was talk of a 10 round Lupo magazine coming to market, but has not yet. Lupo has a shorter bolt throw, Tikka has their one length bolt throw, both are 60 degrees. CTR barrel is a little heavier, so would handle a long range day better. People target shoot both out to a 1000 yards, so negligible accuracy differences. Both would be excellent, won't go wrong with either.
 
I have owned both. I would never give up my Benelli Lupo Walnut stock.... Incredible accuracy, perfect (adjustable) ergonomics, and amazing recoil management.... You can't compare the 2 rifles (in my opinion) as the Lupo is simply a step up overall. My Lupo 30-06 shoots 1 inch groups at 235 yards where I zero it. Every single reload or factory round I have tried (about 9) shoot sub Moa. My vote is Lupo.

Dosnt the Lupo cost 1000$ more ?? Or arnt u considering the wooden version ?
 
Don't have either. But I do have Benelli guns and very impressive with their fit and finish. Never had any issues.
The Lupo looks sëxy as helĺ. So my vote is lupo any day!

Agreed👍. I have one Benelli shotgun and would buy another one in a heartbeat, great fit and finish quality, hits where it’s pointed, no complaints. That being said, Tikka are great rifles too, won’t go wrong with either.

different rifles for different applications. If you are hunting, the benelli is better than the CTR - unless of course you like a heavier rifle to carry then the Tikka is a better go. If you are doing entry level precision - the tikka is a better option - same reason - heavier barrel for longer shot strings. If you want to compare apples to apples then you should compare the Benelli vs a Tikka T3X lite. Then my choice would be the Tikka, as I would rather use the 4-500.00 saved and buy ammo or a slightly better optic.
