Opinion of falcon optics....3,2,1, GO!

No experience with FFP models.
Had two crap out on me during competitions.
Cannot recommend the brand.
 
Had a Falcon Menace FFP on a Savage Mark II. Glass quality was mediocre and it didn't give me enough adjustment to shoot out to 300 yards. If you can give up the FFP, Hawke is a better option in the same price range, and for a few hundred more, you can get a Vortex Viper HS/T.
 
they came out with a decent amount of fanfare.. I guess being assembled in the U.K from Chinese components (or whatever their shtick was) was a plus.

I bought the 4-14 ffp model.

Glass was mediocre at best.

Turrets were complete ####e.

Mine crapped the bed on a .308 heavy barrel, got a new one under warranty and promptly sold it.


...keep saving your money for something better, imo.
 
I actually like them, but... the later ones had slightly better glass with noticably better light transmission. That being said I only use them for 22LR and maybe 223. They work well for those calibers. I wouldn't use one on a 308 or anything more than a 223. For a 22LR they work really well. They parallax down to rimfire ranges. The FFP is pretty cool as well at the price point. The reticles on mine are similiar to the NP2 of my nightforce.
 
I have three, the first and second are about 9 -10 years old, the newest about 3 years old. All on 308 / 30.06 calibre rifles. No problems to date, glass quality okay, but these are circa $300 - $500 scopes and thus are what they are.

If you are looking for them to be S&B or Nightforce quality, you will be very disappointed. If you compare them to most other scopes of the same price range I think you will be impressed. Some have had problems with them, some have not. For the price I think they are good value.

The old ( now discontinued ) 4.5-18 was the best offering. Turrets, like most Chinese scopes , are reported to have poor longevity if used a lot; glass OK for the price point. QC was reported to be a bit above the no-name Chinese stuff. A better choice would be to save a few hundred more and find a used Bushnell or similar.
 
I had a Falcon Menace as well. It crapped out on a 338-06 with 225gr x 2500fps loads. I sent it back to the distributor and never saw it again or heard back from the distributor.
 
The manufacturer will not help you when the thing fails.
The dealer from whom you purchased it might, but this is the dealer helping, not the mfr's warrantee. Different dealers have sold these; dealer support will only be good if a current dealer is selling these things and will help.
The innards on one of mine came loose while on a .223. Saying that they are OK on a .22 or other light rifle is just acknowledging that they are second rate.

Don't waste your time and money. Buy a good scope.
 
I own 4, as they were recommended by a friend. 2: 4-14 and 2: 5-25. 2 have failed in some way. One 4-14 was on a .308 and the focus knob simply came loose and fell off. One 5-25 had the eye piece come loose, so now, tightened back up your dot to line up the magnification is at about 4 o'clock instead of 12. Both still work, to a degree, but I wouldn't trust either on more than a .22. It also makes it so that I hesitate to trust the other two, that haven't screwed up yet. At approximately $500/ea, that means I've got 1 K of paperweight, and another 1 K of possible/probable paperweight.

I looked into the warrantee, but basically came to the conclusion that I'm $crewed. I will not waste my money on another Falcon product. Better to go with Vortex or Bushnell when looking at economy or mid-range scopes. At least when/if they screw up you've got some kind of warrantee.
 
Vortex makes different lines of scopes. Different price ranges. But all are covered by their warranty.
