Opinion on 10mm

I say buy the 610 and use it frequently.

You guys that are saying that there's either no point in buying a 610 when he's got all those other revolvers or that he should just get a .41Magnum are missing out on one VERY important detail..... MOONCLIPS!

The 610 can use either the 10mm or .40S&W ammo in moonclips to be loaded and unloaded very fast and cleanly which makes the 610 an excellent match gun for revolver class shooting.

The man has an excellent point.

I think you need moon clips for the 10mm revolver. There seem to be a lot of hunting loads for the 357, that are hotter than the 10mm. On the other hand, you could get maximum performance out of the 10mm in a revolver.

As an autoloader, 10mm is king. I own a Glock, and a Colt. All the talk of 10mm being close to extinct is premature. I remember when the 1911 was considered an extinct model, right after the US Army switched to the Beretta. There's a long list of extinct products, that just keep on ticking. Probably enough to make for an interesting thread.

The 625 is also an excellent choice for outright speed.

10mm is bad ass. Freedom ventures can order or stocks dirt cheap Tanfoglio all steel 10mm's. The combat model is only $520. I was thinking of getting one just to have a 10mm

Avoid the wonder finish models at all cost. They tear themselves to pieces. Mine is on its way back after over 14 months of sitting in a warranty center.

who buys guns for 'practical reasons?'

I do, all the time!

- That gun was 'practically' given to me... So I bought it.
- I can reload for that gun using the same components as this gun, how 'practical'!... So I bought it.
- That gun is 'practically' identical to that gun, how convenient... So I bought it.
-That gun would be really practical for such and such match... so I bought it.
- I 'practically' have no firearm in that caliber/action... so I bought it.

:D

Thanks for all the replies people. I am leaning more and more to revolvers these days. I hate trying to find brass in the snow, and I am an awful shot with one of my auto pistols. Scary bad really with one auto that will remain un-named(most expensive gun I own).

If I deep six the 10mm plan I may buy a Ruger Redhawk which is a D/A .44 Mag, I have the Superblack Hawk now. Or go for the real Dirty Harry S&W and be a real man!

There's something kinda neat about revolvers that are chambered for auto cartridges and that is reason enough to buy the 610. If you lived in the States you could get Bowen Classic Arms to build you a 4 gun set in 9mm, 10 mm, .45 Auto, and .50 AE on Ruger Redhawks made to look like 1917 revolvers. How cool would that be.

My Delta Elite is my favourite pistol. I'm definitely into 10mm, but I got to start reloading to see the real potential of my 10mm Colt. I also have the Glock 20C (10mm compensated) and find it not as precise as the Colt, but good. Now all I need is to do is add the S&W M610 into the mix. :D
