Hello,
I was offered a trade.
Just researching and getting some opinions.

I have a S&W 460 XVR 8" and a S&W 1911E 45acp.

I was offered a S&W K38 target masterpiece in VG+ condition dated mid to late 50's and aS&W 17 K22 also in VG+ condition dated in mid to late 50's

Straight up trade.

Any opinions?

Cheers.

I think I would want those older guns to be exc, not vg, I just sold a vg+ K38 for 650.oo and a K22 exc for same price I think it was .
I would be looking for some cash, unless you really wanted the old one and did not like the new ones, mind you , I would not pay much for a 460, too old for those.

For both the 460 and 1911? From a pure monetary perspective I wouldn't. Both K38 and K22 are at very best $700 guns, so I'd be asking for cash on top.

If you like the old stuff or prefer shooting .22 & .38 then maybe it's for you. That I can't answer.

I'd agree with the two posts above. Although I'd value those revolvers a touch higher if they are pre model number guns (pre 57), what you have now is worth more on the market.

I'm not sure if the .44 is more or less valuable but I'd peg .357 DW Monson guns around 700-800 ask on the EE. Two sold in the last Switzers auction, one for 650 and the other 700. In both cases that was plus a 15% buyer's premium and tax. I think it's fair to say that auction prices tend to be higher than the EE or between two members at a club.

I guess it would be helpful if more knowledgeable members could comment on the value of the guns the OP has. I'd just be guessing but would 900-1000 each be in the ballpark?

I have had a couple , don't shoot good for me, , you may like one?
I would test fire one if you know of any, big mitts, they seem fine, small hands, some don't like the trigger.
