Opinion on this 1911 issue

The burrs n toolmarks n #### are from running dull cutters, or running them too fast....the inside of a Nork 1911 looks like a road map there are so many tool marks in there....my 2 do anyway.
Even the SAM pistols seem to have been gone over and smoothed/dehorned and they are not much more then Norks. I can count the number of tool marks on the 2 I have on one hand....quite smooth. I still say STI is the best midrange 1911 you can buy.
Basically though if it bothers you, send it back for replacement or refund. It will always bother you if it bothers you now.

Send it back, get a Ruger that doesn't have the series 80 junk added to it.

I have the Ruger. Everything I read said it was the better deal and the better gun. Ruger is amazing too, because I complained about corrosion under the grips, they not only gave me a brand new gun from factory, but built it for me on the spot because they didn't have replacement stock lying around.

For a $750 stainless 1911, I'm happy, and I'll buy Ruger again. Though I don't know if I'll go stainless on my next pistol. It shows absolutely everything, and it's not really stainless at all. At least the Ruger isn't. If you let even a drop of water sit on it, it will water stain in no time flat. I cleaned it on monday and I must have got a drop of water on the frame after I washed my hands, because within less than half an hour I was seeing the brown outline of a water spot on the frame, and I had to get the oil back out to brush it off.

The sad thing is that sub $1000 guns are the bottom end of the bigger name brand spectrum these days. So having some small things like this get overlooked is becoming the norm.

Want a gun that doesn't have such stuff? The pony up something a bunch money and get a higher end S&W or a mid range STI or a Sig 1911. Or go past that and get a Dan Wesson, Ed Brown, Nighthawk or some other higher end gun.

How much you wanna bet that the others in stock at the gun store have the same issues? Maybe not in quite the same places but still there.

You clearly don't own a CZ Shadow.

so i filed it the best i could and hit the range today. sweet shooter and no issues. Remington claimed it was only cosmetic but did offer to fix it if i shipped it to them....

no more shredded cleaning rags!

good to hear the problem is fixed.

I don't care how much a gun is worth, if it's giving me cuts and blisters I'm taking a file and emery cloth to it to break all the sharp edges.

there is such a thing as overdoing it though.....not a fan of the Clark meltdown at all. I believe Dlask has a meltdown 1911 version called the Slick. not a fan of that one too.
