opinion on weatherby vanguard select vs tikka t3

I love the moa garante whit weatherby and easy to strip of the action
But i love the hunter version and smooth bolt for the t3

Did everyone know where to find a hunter t3 in 308 ?

I keep saying to myself I will buy a Vanguard next but seems like something else always follows me home when it comes to laying down my money.

Last rifle I bought was a few months ago and it was a Tikka T3 stainless hunter in 300WSM...its hard to find fault with this gun so far....with exception for that thing Tikka calls a recoil pad.

Installed a LimbSaver, really like this rifle! :)

I would buy the lowest grade vanguard before the t3. Personal preference.
But if you want reasons to not go with the t3.... small top opening. removable mag. plastic. bolt shroud breaks. They say it is a smooth action, I say its loose.
The tikka is 1 pound lighter.
Ideally find a used rem mountain or browning a bolt micro if you want light on a budget.

Guido is just being grummpy. I own both the t3 and the s2. I like both rifles, but if you are looking for a rifle to carry and that is lightweight I woild go with the tikka.

I had an opportunity to shoot Mr. H's Tikka yesterday and I'm impressed.
First one I've had the pleasure of shooting.
I've had an arff dozen or so Weatherby's and I think my sights may be
for a Tikka in .308win if one should 'appin along.

You would never regret buying a T3 in 308 if you are after accuracy.
Of the Vanguard and the new trimmer Howa, the T3 still edges them both when you start measuring groups..
Just my experience, try 'em all Looky.

First you shoot a plastic gun, then you come on here to ask a bunch of dudes to pinch you?

This is what haute euro plastic will do to ya.

Mite be tree in the bunch.
And FYI, dare izz sum hewmanes with girlie parts awn'eer.................:p

I have a Vanguard in service because it shoots like crap. The bore is badly pitted as well (new rifle!).
I don't have much experience with these rifles but they're "guaranteed" 1" or less at 100 yds with premium ammo.
Mine is more like 2.5 moa
Should have bought a Savage

The carpet you speak so fondly of is what I presently have in my den. ;) Glad you approve :) . And, what you've defined as a Moose trophy is a Moose trivet I received as a gift a while back. Part of the major Moose related 'theme' in my den.

What a coincidence! I also have a moose themed den. I should say, it's themed like my BC moose hunting experience so far.

There might be a moose behind the printer, but I can't see it. Might be a moose on the bookshelves, but I can't see it. Found some tracks under the desk, but thats it...

Is that moose or elk poo? Where's the darn book?
