I have a semi and a O/U but recently bought a SXP in pink camo to put away for my daughter. As a cheap shotgun it seemed to be of decent quality. A retailer has both the Field (wood stocked) and a synthetic one with 2 barrels for a decent price. Would you buy one with a sub $500 budget for a pump? Any benefits to having the combo gun over the Field with the wood....
Shotguns I am considering are the
Mossberg 500 12-Gauge Classic Field Pump-Action Shotgun
and
Winchester SXP Field 12-Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun
I am 5ft10 with average to longer arms. What pump action will I have more fun with?
I was thinking of using the gun either as a bang around gun to throw in the side x side but that is also also nice enough to shoot a bit of trap with on occasion. I want a shotgun that doesn't rattle and announce my presence to the forest when out hunting. I'd like something that won't rust out on me if I am too lazy to clean for a day or two out in the bush etc... or if it doesn't won't affect function or put me out of big cash if somehow a boat overturns etc... Which would you choose?
