Had a few 99's; liked them okay, but didn't love them. The BLR...especially the new generation aluminum-receiver bolt-locks-into-barrel guns...and most especially the takedown version...and extra-especially the .358 chambering...is one of the ultimate hunting rifles available today, IMHO. Not ultimate lever hunting rifles, but ultimate hunting rifles. The older steel-receiver version had a bit more ### appeal, but they just didn't shoot as well for me. Once you find a new one with a good trigger (they do exist!) you have the Holy Grail in your hands. I just sold such a one in .308, so my last one (a .358!) has become my keeper.
Henry? Don't know, really don't care; I am well past the point of needing to try every new thing that comes out. How different is it? It's a remake of the BLR, with no particular improvements that I can see...so why bother?
I wish I had the skills and the tools to make the BLR into it's perfect incarnation: a switch-barrel takedown. A few guys did just that on Accurate Reloading. BLR = Blaser Lever Rifle?
