Opinions: CZ 75 SP-01 SHADOW

Now why on earth would you want a Shadow - yesterdays news -

You can't go wrong in choosing a CZ Shadow. If you find the stock grips a little 'fat' like I do, finding thinner grips are no problem. My very, very close second choice is the the CZ 85C (combat). I actually prefer the lines of the 85 over the Shadow so much so I have been thinking of trading my Shadow for the 85 Combat.

Hmm, we may have to talk. I've got an 85 that I REALLY like but my hands are kinda big and the shorter beavertail tends to bite into my hands on the 85C.

I bought one for my boys when one was 13 and one was 15. They took their Black Badge with it and they share it when we go to an IPSC match, the only thing they both want changed is the grips, probably the slim aluminum ones. It's now one of the most used guns we have and I now have to wait my turn to use it!

These were the first custom grips I went with:

But it wasn't quite right so I went with:

I found there was a gap on the right hand side, so I went back to the stock grip there:

Which leaves it looking a bit lopsided, but it works for me:

Hope this helps.

I had a CZ 75 B. Just shot a Shadow this morning. Great trigger, soft recoil, good accuracy, and points perfectly for me. Mags go in slick.

Lots of nice features for the price. Some may find it slightly muzzle heavy compared to the old 75/85 "B".

Always wanted one, so my first was 85 combat, but Im a lefty, and the mag changes was not as smooth as I wanted, (couldnt reverse the mag release), yet I shot very well with it! So I sold it, and picked up a 75 SP01. I reversed the mag release, and presto! If your a lefty, this is your pistol! Like a duck to water, this thing is mine and shoots like a laser beam!
Average price, used will be $600 to $650, shipped.
...just my .02 cents worth....

I was thinking of selling my shadow, now I'm sort of wondering if I should after seeing so many positive comments on it.

Have you changed out the mainspring yet, or is it stock? If it's the stock 18# spring, swapping it for a 13# spring will make an already good trigger into a great one, and you'll definitely want to hang onto it.

The good thing for the OP is it seems there is a shadow for sale posted on the EE daily... That being said I own a shadow and an 85 combat and been happy with both.

Those thin aluminum grips are getting very had to obtain as well, I have a set of red ones on the shadow and blue ones on the 85 love the look and feel.

Ya.. it had a trigger job (also is also SA now).. so it has a very smooth trigger pull. I was thinking of getting a lighter handgun though, like the HK P30.

I won't repeat the other comments posted - I agree with them. The Shadow is a great gun and will give you many years of enjoyment. I had an 80's CZ75, but moved on to the Shadow and am glad I did.
