Opinions of using drones for scouting terrane in new areas?

Ever use trail cams?

No, I don't. Do you chase, pursue, worry, follow after or on the trail of, search for, stalk or lie in wait for any wildlife while placing, recovering, or using the information gathered by trail cameras when you are not legally permitted to be hunting those animals? Using trail cameras or other cameras isn't illegal here, doing things that are prohibited while using the cameras is so using the cameras while you do those things isn't an excuse.

I don't have any trail cams in ladies washrooms, if that's what you mean. :)

What's the law? I thought it'd be you or a spotter needing line of sight

I think it's just that you can't fly into clouds. Very soon there will be many new laws governing drones since so many people keep trying to get close up video of airliners by going into their flight path durring landing/takeoff (4 or 5 cases in BC last year)
The MAAC rules are 6 miles from an aerodrome, line of sight, if you are wearing the goggles you need a spotter that can maintain line of sight, and there is an altitude limit but cant remember it exactly.
The true RC hobbyists look at people who break these rules much like gun enthusiasts look at the people who drive around shooting signs, pointing guns at people etc. They see them as the ones that are ruining it for everyone.

Before hunting season opens, sounds like a fantastic idea. How many times have you wondered, "What's just beyond that hill/creek/stand of trees?"

Yes, leave it at home anytime you have a gun in your possession.

And there is a difference between a hunting expedition and pre-season scouting. For example, for scouting you don't even need a license.
