Thinking about purchasing a Vanguard Sub-Moa in .257 Weatherby. Looking for feedback on this cartridge. I like the idea of a 115 Barnes @ 3300 + fps. Will mostly be a deer, maybe sheep rifle, and blast the odd yote with. Thanks

I have a SS Vanguard in .257Wby and it is a fantastic cartridge.

IMHO the .257 Wby in a rifle with a barrel shorter than 26" is like putting an automatic transmission in a Ferrari.

You won't be able to reach published Weatherby velocities (all of which are obtained in 26" minimum barrels), but it'll pretty much give you .25-06 velocities and ballistics.

Not bad, but would you pay $100 for a box of factory .25-06 ammo?

The 257 weatherby is a fantastic lond range deer cartridge, I have a 25-06 and i can get 3230fps with 115 partitions i would bet the weatherby can get 3400fps if reloaded.
