Wondering what some of you would do here,

I have a Fierce CT edge in 300 Win that I’m going to rebarrel. And I’ve found a 6.5mm, 8 twist, 24” long Bartlein carbon that I bought and will send to Insite for the job. Now what to chamber it in? PRC, 6.5 Rem, 6.5 Win? I don’t think 26 nosler or 6.5-300 weatherby are really much of an option as I want to be able to shoot more than 20 rounds a year.

Well what do you guys think?

24” will limit the larger overbore cartridges, which you don’t like anyway. If factory loading are your thing. I’d go with a 264 win mag or 6.5 prc depending on how much you dislike short vs long cartridges and belted vs rimless.

I reload, and I don’t mind wildcats, brass forming etc. The PRC is attractive as Lapua will have brass this year...but it seems a bit goofy in a long action.

I am assuming you don't reload, due to your aversion of 26Nosler/6.5-300 bee. Thus, I would suggest you go price out ammo, and use that to help determine what to buy.

edit - nevermind, I see you DO reload. But you've still got a long action with a magnum bolthead. So unless you want to change the bolthead too, I'd be factoring that into your decision.

PRC doesn't really fit in many short actions unless you seat short. It's really better suited for a long action. Brass supply is garbage too, probably won't get much better for a while, yanks get it first, took me a while to find 100 pieces of Hornady.
264 Win would be good, brass is easy to find or form.

I thought fitting in a S/A was the whole point of the PRC? I thought thats what it had going for it over the 6.5x284.

OAL is 2.995, with the newer long heavies it gets longer. Some S/A rifles will hold 3" cartridges and feed well, but not many. If you want to use the whole case capacity, it's better in a L/A.

The 264 win would fit the long action nice...the less than caliber length neck is a bit of a downer. Looking at the
6.5 LRM...doesn’t sound to hard to form.

I have been shooting the 6.5 Rem Mag for a while. I’d like to build one on a 700 LA next. Great cartridge but it’s hard to find 6.5 components lately.

6.5 PRC, 6.5 SAUM, 6.5 Sherman Short 6.5 Sherman Max. ADG makes brass for all of them and all would work well on a long action mag bolt face with high BC bullets.

Hands down I would go 6.5-06. I like mine a lot. So simple and easy to create brass from either 270 Win or 25-06. Mine is the most accurate gun I have ever owned.

One day I am going to get one of my 30-06's rebarreled to 6.5-06, to me its the perfect case for 6.5

I shoot 6.5 Rem Mag and .264 Win Mag... starting with your .300 WM, I would go with the .264 WM, although more length would be nice for seating out long bullets in my 6.5 RM, which I built on a Stainless Short Action M77 Mark II. The good thing with either of these is that you have the correct bolt face and the case body should load and feed cleanly from the current magazine.
