Hi. I'm looking to buy my first gun and was looking for some advice. I am a left handed shooter and am looking for my first deer rifle. Unfortunately, being a lefty, choices are pretty limited. I have come across a fellow who is looking to sell a Sako L691 LH in 30-06. I have not seen the gun first hand, but the pictures look very nice. He has sent several close-ups and everything looks great. I have read good things about the particular model and that it has a nice smooth action and a great trigger. The rifle comes with a Leopold VX-3 3.5-10 x 40 scope. Looking the scope up on several sights, it seems to have some pretty good reviews and retails for about $500 new. He is asking $700 and a friend of mine, who also shoots, lives close and can view it and purchase for me. Any advice? Would appreciate all the help I can get and hopefully some one is familiar with the specific model/caliber. Thanks a bunch!

Jump on it NOW. If you don't jump on it, please let me know I am also a lefty and am always looking for quality rifle at a great price.

There is no downside to buying it. Sakos are among if not the best hunting rifles. If the 3006 had to much recoil you can get reduced recoil loads. You won't lose money on it. I would be interested in it as well and i am not actually looking for one. It is a Very good deal. If it says bofors steel on the barrel it is made in the 60s. Those in particular are excellent.

 SAKO (not A7) for less than $1000.00. Better jump FAST!

.30-06 is also a great all around caliber, can get ammo anywhere. Great for Elk, Moose, Deer, Black Bear etc... Also available in many bullet weights.

Thanks for your help everyone. Looks like a no-brainer. I guess I'll be buying it. Double Gun, it is a Vari-X III, I believe. Hopefully it all works out!

Great score Oldboot! Yes, please post a pic. I'm curious why the original seller did not understand the market value.

It will be a while before I have it my hands as it is a several hours drive away from me so I am having a friend who lives locally pick it up. I will post some pictures when I have it. Fingers crossed!!
