well looks like ill eventually get my pal :)

was looking at purchasing a savage 11 in.308 with accutrigger and accustock

Ive read some people hate/have problems with the accutrigger while some love it

id like to hear some personal opinions on it

thanks

Truthfully, I hardly notice it. I definately appreciate that it is adjustable and much lighter, crisper than the trigger on my Ruger.

I haven't heard anyone saying they didn't like it. The blade pulls so light you don't notice it. Perhaps large gloves might make things a little difficult but I had no problems with mine coyote hunting in -15 weather.

I really dislike the accutrigger, it is the reason I sold my Savage.

I found it fine at the bench but when using it in the field I found it to be a distraction. If you haven't done a lot of shooting then maybe it would be fine. My case might just be "it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks".

There are lots of reasonably priced rifles with really decent regular triggers.

Congrats on your PAL.
Personaly, I didn't like them.
It's how it feels to you that matters.
Handle a bunch of different firearms, maybe try some if possible first before making up your mind. Once you handle the right one for you you will know it.
Good Luck

I like it better than most standard factory triggers (like Rugers), but it is certainly a distraction and not better in any way than any other adjustable trigger like Timney, or factory adjustable triggers like Weatherby, Remington, new Winchester and others I own.

:D your not the only one. I tried the accutrigger and didn't like it. I have a savage 111 in 300WM and a stevens in 22-250 both have the traditional savage triggers. Oh and the old savage triggers are adjustable too ;)

My son recenty bought two new Savages with the Accutriggers. They take some getting used to for me. They are light but they don't have the crisp feel of a properly adjusted Rem 700 trigger or a Timney...or almost any good trigger that has been worked over properly. There was nothing wrong with the old Savage trigger. They could easily be adjusted to be quite good.
Keep in mind, the Accutrigger is not really a "trigger design" per se, it's a trigger with an automatic safety that comes into play when one adjusts the trigger to an unsafe level and won't always hold the sear.
There was a guy at the range on Sunday shooting a Savage with the Accutrigger, he had never changed the factory setting and it would not hold the sear more than 50% of the time. After I told him to hold the trigger forward when closing the bolt it would hold every time,...this one clearly left the factory too light but the safety catch was doing it's job,..over and over and over...
I've adjusted and stoned a lot of Model 70, Ruger M77 Mark II's and Vanguard triggers, among others to be better than an Accutrigger.

The Accutrigger in my oppinion is a very good factory trigger and for us big guys with big hands they can be a bonus to say the ultralight pull of a Tikka

I like mine. I use it for target shooting and hunting. I don't even think about it. I suppose it might matter if I had it in my mind every time I shot it. But I don't. I typically am focusing more on my target than how my trigger works.

I don't mind it as long as I don't think of it as a product of lawyers. Really it makes for one of the best budget triggers you can get stock as it is adjustable and installed in entry level rifles. My wife just got a savage .22lr with an accutrigger and it kicks the crap out of my Marlin 981T's factory trigger(nice light 8lbs pull).

Really if the secondary trigger doesn't annoy you, go for it. Some people just don't like it, sort of like creep in a trigger. Some people it pisses off...others like myself are sort of neutral on it(seriously if you've shot it more than twice you know where the break point is..).

Really just go with what feels good.

Whether you like the Accutrigger, or not, I think most would agree that it's introduction by Savage has led to a marked improvement in factory triggers
by most North American manufacturers. For that reason alone, Savage has my thanks and appreciation.

I agree. As an inexpensive pred/varmint rifle able to 'reach out', I opted for a Savage 112BVSS in 25-06. I put decent glass on it and the package, including the accutrigger hasn't been a disappointment:).
