They will ship to Canada and they eliminate issues with the size of the splines for the scope mounting, and as advertised they do return to zero cause of the same method the spline sizing is virtually eliminated.
The newer M1913 Railed version with a spare screw set me back $187.00 USD including shipping and handling but not including the custom charges when I ordered it.
Great product, backed by Great people! The only budget mount I have tried so far that didn't require shimming my scope back to optical center. I had major centering issues with both Promag and John Masen mounts. As well, their return to zero claim is true.
I unknowingly purchased a defective Bassett mount (guide rod missing) on ebay. When I requested a replacement rod, Bill Basset insisted on replacing the mount for free! What else can I say.
I've run about 200 rounds through mine now (I have the aforementioned picatinny mount) and the thing is still rock solid. I have it holding heavy low Burris Zee tactical rings with a 10x40 Bushnell Elite scope mounted and it's perfect.
I have yet to test the return-to-zero business, but by design I think it would probably work.
Hey Guys; I am a new subscriber to Gunnutz and i am an M1A owner (springfield). Does any body out there know the s/n range of the bad springfield bolts?I have some wear on the rear lug on the left side of the bolt also some peening on the rear of the bolt at about the 3 o'clock position. The previos owner apparantly hand loaded for this rifle. Also does any body have a source for 7.62/ 308 head space guages? Any body use commercial 308 ammo, what grain? Does any body know a source of spare mags other than Marstar, or ,does any body have spare mags for sale? Where does one find usgi parts in Canada?
Thanks Scott.Y.
Hungry here: At the risk of hijacking this thread on Bassett mounts, lemme help you with your questions. SN range of the Springfield Armory recall; Just give them a call at their 1-800number found on their website. They will ask you for the markings on your bolt. From there, they will determine if your bolt is part of the recall. Yes , use commercial ammo and keep it around 150 gr to 170 gr and you'll be good to go. Spare mags from Marstar? They are just fine. I compete with those 20/5 Norinco mags and frankly, they are on par with the USGI ones I've owned over the past 25 years. Have no fear. USGI parts in Canada? Better grab my magic wand because there just ain't any unless you happen to see them on the EE Forums here. Nobody seems to be selling their USGI parts squirreled away. Dealers ? Don't bother asking because they cannot get any USGI parts either. Besides if you are not competing with your Norinco M14, then save your money. Shoot what you got, or better yet, buy a second Norc M14 for spare parts at $ 400, who can go wrong? Headspace gauges? I've got a set, but I never use them. You see, the M14 was designed for a battle chamber (read: fzcken big) and commercial gauges will alarm you to the point of #### loss. Yes, your #### will fall off when you discover that ANY Norinco M14 will swallow a civilian NO-GO gauge.
You are new on this board. Go back and read all the stickies that we posted up at the top. My broken finger is swelling up from all this typing that can still be found in the stickies. Better yet, do a search and read ANY of MY posts, then start asking questions.
