Opinions on BHP for IPSC

the fiber optic front sights, the huge mag wells, the 1.5lb triggers, the customized grips, the titanim guide rods,

Ummm... The only thing above I didn't see at the last WS on a Tanfoglio stock custom or Tyc's CZ here is the titanium guide rod and they made up for weight with thier frames. Fiber - Tyc - check - huge magwell - Stock Custom, - check, custom grips - tape is tape on all - check - major weight added to gun - check. 1.5lb trigger - single action - You better believe it.

But you're right - maybe I'm going too far.

the difference between the top Std and the top Prod shooter at the Worlds MIGHT have also something to do with the fiber optic front sights, the huge mag wells, the 1.5lb triggers, the customized grips, the titanim guide rods, etc, and not just the fact that one was shooting major and one was shooting minor.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...the main difference for the most competative of the Production Shooters is...you guys are the biggest gamers in IPSC :D

All kidding aside, Production now owns the biggest (and most expensive) equipment race in the sport...Why the most expensive...if you want to upgrade a Standard or Open gun, you drop in a new barrel or new sight...Most of the Production guys are going out and buying entire new guns (new makes and models)

I'm not suggesting it's right/wrong...better/worse...but it sure didn't turn out to be the grass roots Division everyone said it would be...

hey! why that's................. that's totally..................... damnit there is no way.........................

arrrrrrggghhhhhh!!!!!!

I went into the Foreign Weapons lock up at work today to play with the CZ 75 they have in there. I think I'll go the BHP route.
My girl-sized hands are not cut out for the CZ's trigger (I can just pull back the trigger with the last few mm of my index finger when I properly grip the pistol).
I like Freedom Venture's point about how competitive I plan on being, and I do really like the Hi Powers.
Thanks again for all the advice and input.

Now admitadly...you're not as bad as Omen ;)

If he sold all his Production guns...he could by two SVI's

re: Magazine wells.

These are almost a non-issue when you factor in the nature of the CoF's at the World Shoot as well as the magazine capacity issue.

Remember that the rest of the World is not living on a 10 round magazine, and in fact many of the Production guns are able to cram 18-19 rounds in their mags. Only 6 of the stages at the World's were more than 18 rounds (that 3:2:1 short:medium:long ratio), so only 6 stages REQUIRED a magazine change. Compare that with the .40 cals that get a couple less rounds in the magazine than a 9mm, and the Standard Gun may actually come out disadvantaged on the World scene (having to do an extra reload sooner).

I liked my BHP at that match we shot Rob. I'm still going to go with my Nork until for the scoring, unless of course I find that it is a step backwards.
