Group,

I know a guy who has a stock kicking around collecting dust and he is willing to let it go for cheap. I don't want to get lulled into picking it up just because it is amazingly cheap if it is of no shooting value. Useless is useless no matter how cheap.

Looking for your well respected opinions on Choate Ultimate Sniper Stock Designed by Maj. John Plaster. I have read http://www.snipercountry.com/InReviews/Choate_USS.asp, but still want to hear from you.

Let me know how you liked the handling, mating of action and barrel to stock, weight, accuracy increase/decrease, regrets, etc....... (yes, as a newbie I am probably missing some important questions, but help a brother out).

There are far better stock designs, boils down to what you want it for and how much you're willing to pay for it. What you want is a stock that has adjustment for length of pull, cheek height AND lateral movement. It's that last little item that is hardest to come by but is the final piece to stock fit. The KMW Loggerhead is an example that provides lateral adjustment to allow your eye to get right behind the scope without having to #### your head to achieve that.

They work. The machined bedding block is a good feature, as are the adjustments.
A barrelled action assembled in one will likely shoot as accurately as it is capable of.
They are busy, bulky, heavy and clumsy.

If the price is right, get it.

I have a Choate Ultimate Varmint stock that I am in the process of using for a M70 project. It was cheap, and I know it will work.
