Was interested in a CZ 452 in .22WMR. Is the lux that much better than the standard? Or is the only difference the beechwood vs. the walnut for the Lux? How is the quality of these guns? Fit finish? accuracy? Also whats the average price for 50 rounds of .22WMR these days? I have owned a .22WMR since the late 80s and thought I might pick one up again.

Thanks for any info.

I have a 452 Lux in .22WMR. Nice rifle! Rear tangent sight with windage adjustment. Foresight is vertically adjustable for range calibration. The trigger is adjustable as well. Fit and finish is excellent.

It's a tack driver with good ammo; Winchester Supreme $16.- for 50 rounds.

Make sure you request some decent wood. CZ furniture leaves much to be desired. The 11mm dovetail narrows your scope ring choices. I acquired a nice set from Talley.

I suggest you check out the Ruger M77/22-RM. Its a little more money, but worth it if you don't need or want irons.

Im sort of stuck between deciding on a .22 in a full stock and a .22WMR in the full stock. I like the bigger bang of the .22WMR but Im wondering if its worth it for the price increase.

I thought the wood on these was suppose to be pretty good?

I have a full stock 22 CZ and every other CZ as well and my fs is my most accurate 22 of the bunch.
22 mag on the other hand isn't super accurate round with most makes of rifle including CZ's.
Check out what they have to say on Rimfire central under the CZ heading.

I'd stick with .22LR and just a regular Lux. You can do a lot of plinking with the .22 LR compared to other calibers.

I bought a LH American a few years ago and love the workmanship, but the sights on the Lux are top notch.

I'd like to get one of them next and just leave it with the iron sights. The American can be my scoped rimfire.

I had three 452 Americans, One a 22 long rifle, One a 17 HMR and one a 22 WMR. The 17HMR and regular 22 are still here in my safe. The WMR is long gone. It was never as accurate as I would have liked, and in no way as accurate as the 17HMR and the 22LR.
I tried a real potful of various ammo, but it was at best, about Âľ" at 50 yards. I later purchased a 22WMR in a 77/22M Ruger [stainless, laminated stock] This rifle is very accurate with most ammo I have put through it [there are a couple it does not shoot well] One lot of Silver box Winchester 40 grain hollowpoint shoots just at ÂĽ" at 50. Don't misread my comments here. I like the CZ 22's. They are generally very accurate, but the particular 22 WMR I had was not. Regards, Eagleye.

Ahh!!

My rifle has arrived today. I got the CZ Mannlicher .22. Didnt go with the WMR after reading these posts and those on rimfire central. Appreciate the info posted- thanks.

I got a Leupold 3x9 EFR rimfire scope and Millet BRNO 11mm rings for it. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.

I have the same rifle except I went with the 2-7 Leupold rimfire scope. Mine is a great shooter, my best actually. The more expensive the ammo the smaller the hole. FS

It's not a Mannlicher it is a full stock. A Mannlicher is a brand of rifle known for having full length stocks.

You have made your choice and there is no wrong choice. 22lr and 22rfm really serve different purposes. I have both in the CZ452 series rifles. Obviously there is a much greater variety of ammo to be had for the 22lr and it is usually easy to find a good shooting or acceptable level of performance at different price points. I do like my 22rfm as well though. More expensive to use but if you are hunting bigger game than is normally engaged with a 22lr then I really like it. I have found for general use I like a 40 grain load, the lighter nylon tipped 35gr. would not group near as well. If it is windy though I have found the 50gr.Federal load to be much better at 100 meters.
