Who makes a good elk call?I am hoping to get drawn for elk this fall.I have only hunted the late seasons January where we mainly hunted the food sources.I have tried the ones you put on the roof of your mouth and don't like those kind,any input would greatly help.Thanks.
 
The diaphram works the best with a bugle tube. Practice,practice,practice. If you don't get good at it you are waisting your time. You will just scare the elk away and they will stop calling if you are no good.
 
7mm-08: Those are called a diaphragm. It is by far the best, they give you not only the best calls, but also the most variety of calls. I have had "reed" call freeze up and become useless. Once you've used and become proficient with a diaphragm, you'll never go back. pratise, practise, practise.
Oh, I forgot to mention, get a "cow talk" too.
 
I have used Sceery calls for the past few years. The Seducer bull elk coaxer and special elk call especially. I have used them in -25c weather without problems. We hunt elk throughout November. The diaphram is great, but if you can't use it correctly you will spook em all away (as mentioned above). Good Luck.
 
X2 for the Hootchie Mama. Real easy to use and very effective - particularly if you are hunting in an area with a lot of poor buglers!!!
 
I have a a few different elk bugles,(Berry Thunder Bugle, Primos Terminator, Power Bugle), and out of those I prefer to use the Power Bugle by Elk Inc. Also have a few cows but prefer the Primos Hoochie Mama.
