Hi,

So I have been shooting 90% rimfire 10% centerfire lately(primer cost and availability). And have some Ok rifles in both rimfire and center with mid tier scopes on them. (Minox LR, zp8 and Delta stryker). What came to mind was, why not sell all 3 and buy one T1 optic, think ZCO or tangent and just move it from rifle to rifle and re-zero whenever I do feel like shooting centerfire or going hunting.

Anyone that has done the same, and how convenient/ inconvenient is it to re-zero every so often? (range is a 20min drive in the same direction as the hunting grounds) so it is not like it would be a huge time waste, since I would probably only switch over once a month if even.

Wondering what everyones input is.

Pain in the ass for me...

If you do it, set all the rifles up with the same rail so you can switch the scope from rail to rail without having to change rings or adjust the rings at all.

Thank you for the reply,

I run the same actions and stocks with the same rail inclination, so eye relief etc should be close to identical from gun to gun, and would go for ARC M10 QD or spuhr QD mount which would make it fairly easy.

It could be done, for sure. With a precision rifle and a quality FFP optic, it should only take 3 shots to re-zero after moving the optic.

I'll point out that I have a 36mm Spuhr QDP on the EE, so if you end up going ZCO that would be the ticket.

Changing scopes all the time would be a pita. Over the last few months I have been buying scopes, similar rifles are getting the same scopes so everything stays the same. I like having stuff sited in when I go to use it that way I don’t have to spend the time redoing everything when I want to go shooting.

Waiting for my EE access since I am trying to sell quite a few thing myself. But if I do pull the trigger on a ZCO I will keep it in mind.

I mainly dislike the current setup due to reticle differences etc, I could just get another Delta, but there is quite a bit of room for improvement likewise with the minox LR. And if I shot 50/50 rimfire and centerfire it would be a different situation. but with current reloading supply costs and shortages and limited distance at our range I don't see myself shooting centerfire anywhere near the amount of rimfire.

As I mentioned above, one of the reasons is reticle and scope differences, which is fairly annoying. + I shoot rimfire 9 out of 10 times. If the ratio was near 50/50 or 60/40 I wouldn't even consider doing this. But the way it stands now it doesn't seem like it would be this much of a pain. Shooting centerfire gets pretty monotone on a 216yard range.

I don't know anyone that has a single optic for multiple guns. Way I see it. Its like having 2 cars, and 1 set of good tires, that you are constantly taking off rims, and have to install and balance them. Sounds great on paper, but will get tiring after awhile.

you got a point there, but might as well keep the zp8 for hunting w the centerfire, and upgrade up from the Stryker and LR.

Speaking of convenience factor, there is a tangible one in seeing 22cal holes in white paper at 300m through a ZCO 527. Saves a lot of walking.

I mean optics can be cheap and any optic is better than no optic. At least you be able to grab something if you choose to use it, and just shoot. Than not have to worry about mounting, zeroing, and hopefully you don't spend most of your time zeroing it. Ruining your day.

Its that whole better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

My take on this, for what its worth.

It could be done, and best to use it with the same qd mount, one pc. When you initially set it up on say the 22 and zero things off, just write down the amount of clicks and what direction on what dial (elevation/ wind) to get it set up on the rifle.

When going back to 22, it would be a quick reset the dials and zero off, and a few quick rounds to verify.

Me personally, I prefer having a dedicated scope to each rifle, as I take multiples to the range, and would find that a pain to do all the time. If you can save up a while and do things right the first time.

Another option would be a ziess LRP, with a quick zero stop dial to set it, take it off, and has ample amounts of adjustability for the 22. Weight wize, the T1's are going to be in roughly the same area, give or take a few oz.

I use a ZCO 4-20 on my hunting rifle, and just got the LRP 5x25 -50 onto a 22.

I have a few Near alpha mounts. I don’t swap them from gun to gun but you could. I have taken them off the rail and put them back on and they required zero adjustments. As far as swapping scopes from gun to gun I think that would be a pain.

how do you like the ZCO 4-20? I guess since its a hunting rifle the 5-27 would be overkill, certainly because you want your FOV as wide as possible. I am torn between ZCO, tangent and minox ZP5 with the minox being the lowest on the list, due to QC inconsistencies/ warranty not being lifetime.

Love the ZCO. For me, and being on a hunting rifle, I like a smaller footprint while still having optics to shoot out with. I shoot out to 1000M with it regularly, and have pushed further with it, so I don't think a 5-27 would be necessary. I guess the 56 mm bell to me is just too big. I did that with a nightforce, but when I bought they didn't have any 50mm in stock. Just too big for me and won't go that route again.

I had a 525i on my last bolt 22, and again just too big for what you get. I love the new LRP 5-25x50 that now sits on the 22. Great features and lots of turret adjustability.

When I bought the ZCO, did all the comparison stuff, and found from all what I looked at in comparisons that the ZCO sits just slightly behind the tangent scopes. Plus they are a tad cheaper, so for the features to cost it was in the front of the pack.

I did a march 4.5x28-52 high master for my bench rifle. Again features for physical size just put that scope to the front of the list for me. Very happy with it so far.

Out of all the glass I have, the ZCO shines on top for clarity. Not saying the others are not good, just the zco that much better.

Size isn't my biggest concern, so I am leaning more towards the 5-27 zco, certainly since I shoot rimfire and would like the extra bit of magnification. Idk for some reason I am not drawn to march even tho they have really good scopes in compact packages + very large FOV.
