I'm looking to replace the sticky R3 pad on my Remington 700 Ti (B&C fiberglass) stock, and have settled on a Pachmayr Decelerator. There are two 1" styles that are appropriate for rifles:
The D750B Field:
and the D752B Old English:
I've been looking at the pictures of rifles posted here, and I seem to see more of the Old English pads being used. Is there a strong preference for one over the other for hunting use? The Old English has a more rounded transition from the face to the sides; for my stock, I'll be using a medium size, but there's still going to be a considerable amount of the toe to grind off, so I'm a bit concerned that the toe will look odd being squared off like the Field pad and then transitioning to the rounder contour at the heel.
Anyways, I suspect this is splitting hairs, but I'm curious none-the-less as to whether anyone's made a concious choice to go for one style over the other.
