I'm looking to replace the sticky R3 pad on my Remington 700 Ti (B&C fiberglass) stock, and have settled on a Pachmayr Decelerator. There are two 1" styles that are appropriate for rifles:

The D750B Field:

and the D752B Old English:

I've been looking at the pictures of rifles posted here, and I seem to see more of the Old English pads being used. Is there a strong preference for one over the other for hunting use? The Old English has a more rounded transition from the face to the sides; for my stock, I'll be using a medium size, but there's still going to be a considerable amount of the toe to grind off, so I'm a bit concerned that the toe will look odd being squared off like the Field pad and then transitioning to the rounder contour at the heel.

Anyways, I suspect this is splitting hairs, but I'm curious none-the-less as to whether anyone's made a concious choice to go for one style over the other.

The Old English looks more refined and less likely to get caught up
on your clothes when shouldering in a hurry?
I have both and like the Old English better.
If cosmetics are important, which one looks better on your rifle?

I've used the Old English on numerous rifles and like it very much. It absobrs recoil well (I had one on a Remington 700 Safai in .416 RM) and it looks good too.

I've used the Old English more than any other pad and will continue to do so in the future. They work well and look good, but I use the thinner ones when I can cuz they look better.

This is a TI I had replaced the sticky pad with an Old English. I had to use a 1" pad to keep the LOP the same.

Thanks for the info, guys, and great pictures SuperCub.

It looks like enough gets ground off all around the Old English that the border looks even. I'll have to stick with a 1" for the same LOP reason... the extra padding won't hurt either since my Ti is a 30-06.

Fortunately, the local store as the Old English pads in stock (and not the Field pads, so that's why I was curious if it would be worth ordering), so that's what I'll go with.
