Gathering more information for my build. Pretty much decided on the Remington 700 action from all the info on here.

I really like the feel of the pistol grip (MDT TAC 21 style) for shooting but am wondering if there is any disadvantage for it in precision shooting.

If you wrap your thumb around you can get sympathetic movement when you pull the trigger, other than that your trigger hand should have almost no input on the rifle any way

I say shoot what you find the most comfortable

I have a pistol grip on my XLR chassis. I'm not sure it's the best thing. The angle rakes back, it's a Magpul MIAD grip, but I think it might be better if it was more neutral or closer to straight up and down. I just saw a grip that articulates (Tapco or Tango Down) I think. It goes from back angle to straight up and down. If it's not to pricey I might try it. Last time I was at a ORA practice, some of the TR shooters had these pistol style grips (not sure of the make(r),but probably part of the chassis system they were using), that seemed to rake forward vs. backward.

Here is a good link that might help you decide on a grip to try out.
