I got a good look at one a week ago.
The gun was a beauty.

I am looking for a fun target shooter for shooting 38's.
Are these worth the extra money?
Are they built to last shooting 38's every weekend?

maybe for targets if you were shooting 357 "heavy" loads- the k-l frames are built for 38/357, the heavy n frames( which is the 62 series et al) are built for the 44/45 and are too heavy, imho

627 weight?

According to smith websight 686 and 627 both are 44 oz.

Suprised me. I thought the 627 was lighter. May be it is the balance.

I would not buy the 627 to be a queen. I would shoot it lots (.38 target loads) along with my vaquero.

I would not buy the 627 to be a "look at me I got a lexus" I am not that type.

Still wondering if the 627 is worth it.

What are the prices in your area?

I think the S&W 627 Performance Centre revolver is one nice HG.
It balances nicely in my hand and looks "right" with a 5"bbl. I also think the gold bead sight is outstanding for quick target acquisition and very easy to see. The 8 round cylinder also alows for a couple or more "bangs" before reloading. The trigger's sweet and so it the matte finish. It's also been a nice addition to the "family"....(now if only I can track down a 327 Trr8)

If you get the chance to buy one...do it:D ;) .
