Hey,

I am new to the forums and just had a question before making my a my first restricted purchase. I am in the military I and use Sig's quite often as a part of my secondary duties. I am very comfortable with the model we use on board ship the Sig 225 (don't get my started why they choose the 225 at the time) but all in all I find the Sig to be a beautiful gun, works flawless and I get very nice groupings at the range when we go shooting. For my first purchase of a restricted firearm I was looking from something of a larger caliber and I love 1911's. I was originally going to purchase a Sig 220, in .45 ACP, but later down the road I want a 9mm as well so I figured I will get a 1911 in a .45 and I will get a Sig 226 in 9mm. I have narrowed down my choice of 1911 to a few models and I was just wondering if anyone had a first had review or experience with Sig's line of 1911's. I know they are a outstanding gun company but they are relatively new to the 1911 market compared to Colt, Springfield etc. The model I was leaning towards was the Sig GSR, 1911, any first had reviews on and on their 1911's would be great. Thanks.

My guess is if Sig makes it, the pistol works. I, personally, would opt for a manufacturer with more experience. I like Kimbers, Dan Wessons, Norincos, Springfields, Paras, etc. Regards, Richard:)

They are outstanding pistols, It is one my wife loves and uses regularly. They cycle very smoothly and fit the hand extreamly well. I recomend grabbing one.

Thanks for the replies. That is a nice looking RCS, is that the grey or black finish on that RCS? So you haven't found any feeding issues at all with your the first 500 rounds or so? I was reading that the first few batches back in 2004 had feeding issues till the break in period was over with? Hopefully the issue is cleared up now with the new models. Thanks again.

No issues at all, it is Black. The wife has easily put 1500+ rounds down the pipe with no issues. It is a very reliable pistol. We have shot American Eagle and Wolf remanufactured 230grn ammunition through it. Use quality magazines and you should have no prolems with this pistol.

I personaly use a Kimber tactical ultra II .45acp for my compact. It was put together by Questar and is an awsome little pistol if your looking for an alternate. It is sitting in a K&D custom built IWB holster from Texas. The wifes IWB is a Milt Sparks for her SIG.
The K&D holster is a work of art, I highly recomend it. It cost me the same as what I paid for a Galco holster in Canada , I also got 2 leather mag pouches and an Leather gun belt all top quality. It took a while to get it but well worth the wait. It holds the pistol as secure as a vice yet draws very smooth the inside of the holster has been worked. K&D holsters gets a definate 11 out of 10. Excuse the pictures as the wifey took them and she gets a little shakey when she see's the beauty of the Kimber:p:D
