They're completely adequate enough for shots out to 400+ yds

I'd look at a monometal like Barnes TTSX or LRX, Hornady CX for deep penetration

Currently using the factory rendition of the 168gr TTSX out of my ‘06 with decent accuracy results. I do have about 200 of both TTSX & TSX Barnes I intend to reload at some point knowing I can tighten up the factory groups even more.

I have a magazine with information on the penetration and of the Grand Slam bullets which compares them to several other manufacturers offerings and types. Monumetal bullets were just coming out.

Yes, they penetrate better but the 165 grain Grand Slams still penetrated 21 inches and retained 80% of their weight at 2000fps and slightly less, at 18 inches for point blank velocities at 3000 fps from a 300WM.
