Opinions on the High Standard

I have a Hamden, CT HS Victor from 1976 and can say that it's my most accurate .22lr pistol, I've shot Pardini's, M41's, Hammerli 207 & 208 and while they are all extremely accurate, the Victor is the most accurate of them all.

Offhand @ 25 meters (27 yards) w/ SK std+ ammo.

What are the price ranges for these sweet hearts?
Or what would be considered a good deal?
I realize "condition" is everything, but there should be a common
area of value.

I was given a price on this one today and raised me eye brows.

Excellent groupings!
I took my 'new' HS Model 102 Citation 'Spacegun' to the range yesterday - wow!
I have never shot a pistol with a trigger quite as sweet as this!

I paid $750. For my model 107 military with 2 mags. First handgun I bought when I got my rpal last year. It still go’s to the range with me every time. Standard velocity ammo only. Lots of info out there about it.

What was he asking ?
I found mine in the EE believe it or not just recently we did a trade deal I think the price in the ad was dropped to $650
Even better it came with 4 mags !

Thanks guys , I try.
I have been playing with them for 30+ yrs and owned more than I can count, but turned into a dealer a few years ago so not too many now, my best are Victors and Olympics (22 short rapid fire)
I use to buy factory mags for 30-40.oo up to about 3 yrs ago, then everything went haywire for some reason.
I got 4 in that Western Gun parts had, new ones and my dealer cost is more than I have ever sold a mag for.
After market will work sometimes, good mags are a must for these as there is no ramp, but if the mags are adjusted right, they are 100%, I find the factory spec. to be a bit off.
The lips on these mags are tempered steel and very hard, the aftermarket mags, triple K are soft and work but need tuning as they open up after a while.
I had a hammerli , but did not have the comp in it, and that guns shot everything I put in it and never missed one shell in about 4-5 yrs.
BTW, any of you fellow knew John Taylor, Lucky Dollar Gun Exchange from Sk, that use to do all the gunshows for years , before he past on, he was the one that got me into the Hi Standards
You Hi Standard guys will know what I am talking about when I mention Hi Standard 10X Victor He had one.
BTW, Brownells usally has mags but out last time I looked, Those Texas mags are good. not sure about the guns.
cheers, Marshall
I came very close to getting a HS last fall but could not find extra mags so passed.. maybe this year

Great great guns, but 1940s technology. And yes, somethings just keep working. My father got into the Olympics with a HS.

I'll take 40's-80's technology, fit, finish and care of assembly over a lot of junk produced today. If one were to get a truly 'TARGET GRADE' 22RF handgun, there are only 2 choices, Walther and Hammerli. Almost everyone else has abandoned the market

You’re joking right?

Pardini
Matchguns
Benelli
Feinwerkbau
Morini

Any of those ring a bell?

Of course. The abandonment of what I speak of is in context with manufacturers of the mainstream that USED to go Head to head with the big 3/4 and be competitive, without the big cost.

Smith and Wesson, Browning/FNH, Anschutz, Ruger, TOZ, Drulov, Thompson.

So, not joking at all :) Affordable, GOOD performing target .22 handguns are a rare breed. SW still makes the 41, Ruger does a decent job but a bit rougher than the good old days.

Perhaps a bit of clarification on my part :) would have been helpful

Fair enough. All of the options I put up certainly don’t fit if you aren’t willing to shell out $2500 minimum.

Oh you were quite correct :) I did not specify. But yeah, survival of the fittest has turned into a high dollar and very specialized piece of equipment. Where unless you have these guns, you either A) cannot compete because of the ISSU rules, or B) Cannot compete because the gun is no longer affordable.

Shame really.

they are great pistols wish I had one. One thing that you have to watch for is don't dry fire them, you need to get a dummy round to put in chamber to dry fire or to de-#### it before putting it away it soon damages the chamber.

I have a HS 10X, signed by Karl DeCerbo.
One of the 5 smiths that made the 10X guns.
My pistol is extremely accurate.
10X pistols are not built for bling, dull matte finish.
Looks parkerized.
I found here on the EE a few years ago!

I have an old fixed sight sportsman, and I out-shoot everyone at our club with ruger MK II, III and IV with all of the target paraphernalia. All the rage, but they don't seem to put the rubber on the road.

I have had couple MK1 targets , old ones that had superb triggers in them and shoot very good, almost as good as Hi Standard, but for a beginner would be a good starter gun, the later MK1's will take MK11 mags so you have 10 rd mags
Over the many years Hi Standard use to run in the 400.oo to 600.oo for high end ones with all the stuff, and I sold new original mags for 30.oo-40.oo
But the last 5yrs of so the price on good ones seem to getting higher, 750.oo seems to be the retail price now, but there are deals here at 600.oo yet.
I saw that hi standard with 4 mags and thought , I should buy that, them I went and looked in the vault and don't need any more, I said to myself, but a week or two down the road?
I just finished building a set of grips for a 102 for a fellow I did a deal with at last gun show.
What I have not seen much last while is the 22short kits , especially for the Victors, I have a Olimpic 102 and that is my best shooter, but 22 short ammo is a pita these days
