Opinions on the LAURONA Spanish shotguns (box lock)

Under the CZBB Flight Path.....
A buddy has a Laurona SXS in 20 gauge with 28 inch barrels and semi beavertail fore end .
I have not handled it as of yet, but doing some research/opinions/experienced owners search before hand.
Thoughts are using it as a dedicated Grouse Gun.
Good, Bad or otherwise ?

From anything I have read, The Laurona's were fairly reliable guns. Depending on price, I would not be afraid to give it a try. Although I have never owned a Laurona, I have a 20 gauge Spanish Lucio Loyola sxs that I bought new in 1970 for $100.00. Still have the gun and it has given no problems. A couple of years ago I bought a 12 gauge Loyola sidelock. It's a nice gun that functions fine. There are stories that have been going around for years that many Spanish guns from the 70's and 80's were unreliable and the internals were made of soft steel. I think a lot of that was blown out of proportion.
 
I own a 12g Laurona. You won't be disappointed. Craftsmanship on these 1960's and 70's "cheap" guns is better than some of the contemporary $2000 SXSs. I paid $400 for my excellent condition Laurona a few years back.

These Spanish guns were mostly manufactured in small gun shops in Bosque, Spain. Their quality varies. I understand Laurona is among the better ones. Never had a problem with it and it is a sweet gun for upland hunting.
 
I own a 20g Laurona SxS. The only thing I have done to it s have the chokes reamed out to IC/Mod. Low end gun but actually nicely balanced and fairly light. They tend to sell fairly cheap especially when you price out what a single barrel costs these days.
 
I used to have a double triggered O/U Laurona, liked the gun a lot!
It was pretty beat up but still worked very well.
IIRC I gave it to a buddy in the East that broke a gun and couldn't get a forend for it (Valmet), I had the Laurona kicking about so sent it to him.
He threw some 28 gauge tubes in it and was happy!
