I wanted a feel for people's opinion and real world experience with the Remington Sendero and/or the Remington 700 police both in 300win mag. Which would be the preferred choice for strictly distance shooting and accuracy and reliability? In other words which would be the better of the two?

honestly about the same, they are both facotory guns shooting with factory barrels, the actions are the same as far as design goes but 1 being stainless and one being the black finish. you could end up with an average gun or a great out of the box with either. IIRC they both sport HS precision stocks, with slightly different designs..

final word - do you want black or stainless? as every thing else has the chance of being equal with the other

I have a sendero made around 1997 ish in 7mm stw . it shoots very very tiny groups .
the rifling was a bit rough at first ( it appears to be hammer forged rifling ) and would copper foul barnes x bullets , everything else was fine .
since then I've fire lapped the barrel ( something I wouldn't recommend , unless you have a really good idea of what you are doing ....and even then , but it did work for me ) and the copper fouling issue has gone away ...... also since then barnes has changed the composition of their bullets and it the barrel may have been a non issue with the new bullets .

it is long and heavy and a pain to pack any distance , especially in tight willows , and is more at home in big open slashes and fields .
